It’s time for my June Random Read (a fun meme hosted by I’m Loving Books). The idea is to pick one random book out of your Goodreads To-Read list (using Random.org) to read within the month.
Can I just tell you that I am in love with this meme?! Since I’ve started blogging, I’ve added so many books to my TBR list that I know it’s impossible for me to read them all. Somehow, it makes me feel better to know that each month, I will be picking one book from that crazily long TBR list at random so every book on the list has a chance that it might be read this month. I LOVE that! Am I crazy? Probably. But, I think way more people should participate in this meme. Seriously – try it out and then tell me if I’m the only weird one who gets a serious sense of satisfaction from it!
This month’s winner is…
Okay, the ironic thing is that I wrote that gushing praise for Random Reads and then I let Random.org do its thing and then…I wasn’t so sure if I liked the result. Book #503 was chosen for me, which happens to be The New Hunger by Isaac Marion. This isn’t even really a novel, but an ebook novella prequel to Warm Bodies, which I just recently read and reviewed. I just didn’t feel excited about it. I was even more frustrated when I realized that I can only get this book from a site called ZolaBooks (no Amazon?).
But then I read the blurb and, well, I’m interested. In fact, I’m really looking forward to reading it! I mean I put it on my TBR list for a reason, right? And I am nothing if not dedicated to this meme – not knowing what you’re going to get is part of the fun! So, here goes. I’ll let you know what I think!
I almost forgot to say – last month my random read was Masque of the Red Death, which I liked but didn’t love (you can read my review here).

Your pick looks so cool! I haven’t read Warm Bodies. I tried but failed. I’ve never heard of the prequel but that’s what I get for not reading the first book lol… Hope you enjoy it!

I didn’t know there was a prequel that’s cool. I just saw the movie and I really liked it, Warm Bodies is sitting in my e-reader just waiting to be read but I’ve been so busy with other things I keep forgetting.
