Then the body disappears into thin air. It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing―not even a smear of blood―to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy? This is Clary’s first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It’s also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within… Read more »

Feature & Follow Friday – Read it For the First Time – Again

Feature and Follow 0

Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! This is a blog hop that allows bloggers to gain new followers and find some awesome new blogs to follow themselves! The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host has a blog that they feature each week!   So, if you’re a blogger, come join in on the fun!   Here’s today’s question – If you could read a book for the “first time” again, which book would it be? Why? This is a hard question for me, since I don’t often re-read books.  I guess I’d say Harry Potter.  I re-read it when my son was old enough to pick it up and now I’d like my daughter to read it too (she’s resistant for some reason).  I’m planning to re-read it along with her,… Read more »

I thought I’d highlight a middle grade series that I’ve been reviewing over on my MG blog – Best Kids’ Reads.  It’s great fun and along the lines of the Percy Jackson series (featuring Indian culture and mythology rather than Greek mythology). You can read my reviews of the first three books in this series HERE!  (Plus, there’s a $100 giveaway running right now as well!)

Top Ten Books that Made Me Cry

Top Ten Books that Made Me Cry

Top Ten Tuesday 30

Today’s Top Ten Tuesday is: Top Ten Books that Will Make You Cry I’m a total crier, so this one should have been easy, but I actually had trouble remembering which books had actually made me cry.  Here’s a list of the ones I’m sure about, though (I think Forbidden made me cry the hardest – don’t read that one without a truckload of tissues nearby!!) If it wasn’t one o’clock in the morning, I’d tell you why all of these books made me cry, but instead I’m resorting to a list (or pictures, really).  I know that there are many more books out there that made me cry – like I said, I cry easily!! While you’re here, make sure you check out my HUGE Blogoversary Giveaway!!  I’m giving away TONS of books and you don’t want to miss it!!

February Random Read – Waterborn by Kimberly James

Random Reads 0

It’s time for my February Random Read (a fun meme hosted by I’m Loving Books). The idea is to pick one random book from your Goodreads To-Read list (using Random.org) to read within the month.  As I mention every month, I am in love with this meme!  This is such a great way to make sure that I actually read some of those books that have been in my TBR list for eons.Again, this month I limited my Random Read choices to books that I actually own since I have so many of them that I’ve been wanting to read.  (I did this by just creating a Random Reads shelf on Goodreads).I loved my January Random Reads pick!  It was Colors Like Memories by Meradeth Houston.  You can check out my review here. And this month’s winner is… #36 – Waterborn by Kimberly James Synopsis: “You don’t have to choose. You can be both. The girl with the charm, the… Read more »
