September Random Read – Black Amaranth by Sasha Hibbs

It’s time for my September Random Reads selection (a fun meme hosted by I’m Loving Books). The idea is to pick one random book from your Goodreads To-Read list (using Random.org) to read within the month.

Random Reads

As I mention every month, I am in love with this meme! This is such a great way to make sure that I actually read some of those books that have been in my TBR list for eons.

This month I decided to continue with just choosing one Random Read. I limited my Random Read choices to books that I actually own since I have so many of them that I’ve been wanting to read. (I did this by just creating a Random Reads shelf on Goodreads).

I really enjoyed last month’s Random Read – Scorched by Mari Mancusi. I was so glad that the book lived up to its pretty cover!  🙂  You can read my review HERE.

Now, on to my September selection:

Black AmaranthEighteen-year-old Ally Watson arrives home from high school graduation, more than a little annoyed that her Uncle Argyle—Ally’s legal guardian and only surviving relative—didn’t even bother showing up. But instead of berating him for his forgetfulness, Ally finds him in a life-or-death battle with a monster. Argyle manages to kill the creature, and gives Ally a parcel containing a destiny she never knew existed.

Ally, along with her best friends Michael, Jessica, and David, hurry to Georgia to uncover the truth of Uncle Argyle’s secrets, and the meaning of the mysterious marks that Ally bears. Are the marks related to the blacksmith mythology of her ancestors? Who are these heavenly warriors who show up in the oddest of places? And will an ancient gypsy curse destroy the very things Ally fights to save?

Black Amaranth: a simple flower, a symbol with an ancient legacy, a conduit for prophecy…while faith and hope are essential to the journey, Ally soon discovers that love is the most powerful force of all.

I got this book for review back in May and still haven’t gotten to it – I feel pretty guilty about that, so I’m glad that it was chosen as this month’s Random Read. This sounds like the type of paranormal tale that I love, so I really don’t know what’s taken me so long!

    • Yes, why is that every month when I go through people’s Random Reads posts my TBR list just gets bigger?! I’m kind of defeating the purpose, aren’t I? Oh well – no one said the life of a book blogger was easy. LOL!
