September Wrap-Up & Best of the Bunch

Posted October 4, 2014 by Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction in Best of the Bunch, Monthly Recap / 12 Comments

My Goings On in September:

  • I attended two different book events at Anderson Bookshop! I went to the Rick Yancey signing and to the YA Fandom Frenzy – both awesome events!
  • I got a new editing client and have started working on her first two books.  Keep an eye out for L.A. Starkey!
  • I finally got around to reading Pride and Prejudice and The Giver, and really enjoyed both of them! I didn’t post reviews of these two, but I may post a discussion about them at some point in the future.

Best-of-the-Bunch-New-Button

Best of the Bunch is a book blog hop hosted over at Always Lost in Stories on the last day of each month, where we can look back over the books we have read over this past month and give a Best of the Bunch award to our favorite book of that month.

September 2014 Reviews:

Another month of less reviews than normal, but I’m trying to let that go a little bit and not demand so much of myself (it’s hard, though – somehow it stresses me out to see less books listed here!!!).

And September’s Best of the Bunch winner is:

Such a hard choice this month!  There were a few books that I really loved for different reasons. But I finally decided on Rock Angel because that book just really affected me, and I think about it a lot.

Shan is young, beautiful, talented, and addicted to heroin in Rock Angel, a novel that follows her meteoric rise to guitar goddess stardom in the 90’s. She is discovered in New York by a handsome, arrogant musical genius named Quinn, and sparks fly between them when he hires her as lead guitarist of his band. Although Quinn is accustomed to bedding a different groupie every night, he can’t ignore his deepening feelings for his new band mate. From gritty Greenwich Village clubs to L.A.’s Troubadour; gigging and touring the country to the cover of Rolling Stone, Rock Angel is infused with the passionate music and intense sexual chemistry of Shan and Quinn. Shan must work out her personal demons and learn to trust Quinn enough to love him, but still remain true to the music that has always been her salvation. A hot, hard-driving story set in an intoxicating world of sex, drugs, and rock n’ roll, Rock Angel is the first novel by author, Jeanne Bogino.

    • I just got it off of Goodreads. Go to My Books and then click on the link in the upper left that says Stats, then click on 2014. I agree that this is an awesome graph!

  1. Yey, I enjoyed Trial by Fire too :D. I like the Best of the Bunch idea, thanks for including it, I might have to start doing that hop to get some more recs!

Random thought about the stress: I think that’s why I stopped keeping track of that sort of thing monthly since some months are just going to be hard and as long as you’re enjoying what you’re reading, that’s what counts 😉

    • You’re totally right – I shouldn’t stress about it. I’ve actually been enjoying posting more non-review posts lately, which automatically means I’m spending a little less time reading and reviewing. It’s a good thing – but somehow I get all hung up on the numbers sometimes! 🙂
