Sunday Post & Giveaways Galore – 5/10/15

Posted May 10, 2015 by Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction in Sunday Post / 26 Comments

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.

Last week on FYFA (and in my life):

Well, I’m headed off to RT next week (WOO HOO!!!), so this week was mostly spent editing (since I’m working on two books that are being published at the end of the month) and preparing. I actually scheduled posts, people! I know you’re all gasping at my sudden ability to plan ahead. Don’t worry – I’m sure it will wear off as soon as I get back.

Today we’re celebrating my daughter’s 11th birthday – and Mother’s Day, of course. Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms out there!!

Another highlight of the week was heading to the Scholastic Warehouse sale with my kids. They have an area marked off where you can fill a whole box for $25 and then everything else is 50-80% off! Then, if you spend $100, you get another $25 off. Pshaw! Not a problem! We came home with around 65 books plus a few little extras (small notepads and such that fit into the extra space in the box – they are NOT stingy about their boxes – if you can tape it closed, it counts. Plus, they let you add up to five oversized books to a bag at the top of the box.)

My kids (and I) were in heaven!!!

Here’s what you may have missed on the blog this past week:

Next week on FYFA:

  • Crimson Bound by Rosamund Hodge (review)
  • Spelled by Betsy Schow (excerpt & giveaway)
  • Let’s Discuss – My Kids LOVE to Reread!
Book-Haul
From NetGalley:

Two of HeartsA Whole New WorldJesse's GirlThe Six

From Edelweiss:

Ice Like Fire The White Rose

Purchased:

Like I said, my kids and I bought about 65 books from the Scholastic Warehouse sale! I won’t list them all here (who has time for that!), but here are a few that I actually picked up there for myself (or to give away on the blog):

RoomThe HostThe Iron TrialReady-Player-One-194x300

Both Room and The Host were in the $25 box area. I’ve heard of Room in the past, and I’m really intrigued by it – not sure when I’ll get around to reading it, but now that it’s on my shelf … The Host I’ve already read, but it’s a definite favorite of mine (loved it much more than Twilight) – I know I never reread, but it was there … and there was room in the box … What else was I supposed to do?

The hardcover of The Iron Trial was being sold as a spectacular price and both my kids loved it – might use this one as a giveaway on the site.

I didn’t know anything about Ready Player One, except that it looked like a book my son might like. I need to give it a read first to make sure it’s appropriate though. Just yesterday, I stumbled across this review on Tabitha’s blog Not Yet Read, and now I’m really excited to read it!!

    • Yes, when I saw that Ice Like Fire was on Edelweiss, I figured it would be great motivation to read Snow Like Ashes (since everyone raves about it).

    • I hadn’t heard of Ready Player One, but anything having to do with video games is instantly on my son’s list of favorites! 🙂

  1. I think if I was reading a book titled Jesse’s Girl I’d have Rick Springfield running through my head the whole time. Are you old enough to get that reference? 🙂
Glad the book sale was fun for all. Happy Mother’s Day!

  2. Same thing every week! This post has been open for like 45 mins, pretty much since I saw it in my inbox. Lol! Great links, please keep posting them.
I am so jealous of your book haul this week. I need to start looking for my library to have a sale. You got some awesome new reads and inspired me to look at some new stuff on NetGalley. Have a great week, my friend!

  3. Scholastic Book sale sounds like heaven to me ♥ Gorgeous haul too! I still need to read Snow Like Ashes and Ready Player One but I really enjoyed The Host back when I read it! The first 80-ish pages were a bit slow and a little confusing but after that it was excellent 🙂 Happy reading Nicole and have a wonderful week^^ x

    • The sale was complete heaven. Now I’m trying to hold myself back from buying too many books from the Book Outlet Mother’s Day sale – totally failing.

    • I actually love The Host. I’ve read that one and couldn’t resist putting it in the box at the Scholastic sale. I tell myself maybe I’ll actually reread it. We shall see! 🙂

  4. I am very very impressed with that book haul! I am someone who loved the Host, so I hope you will enjoy it a lot as well. My mother and sister read Room and have loved it – but I have yet to get around to it myself. I am curious to know what you think. The Iron Trial and Ready Player One are some books on my TBR as well ^.^
