Last TWO weeks on FYFA (and in my life):
I didn’t manage to put up a Sunday Post last week. It’s the first time that’s happened – maybe ever. But, trust me, I had good reason. These past two weeks have been insanely busy – like ridiculously, crazily busy. Actually, I could extend that to the past month, but …
Anyway, as most of you know, the week before last, I headed out to RT in Dallas. It was an amazing experience, and my days and nights were pretty much completely filled while I was there. You can read a recap and see some pictures here. Just for the heck of it, here are a few more random pictures from RT:
(Clockwise, from left to right – Ilona and Gordon Andrews, Harper Avon Paris Party, Me with Erin Knightley and Danielle from The Hollywood Billboard at the Steampunk Party, The Gas Monkey Bar & Grill, Hyatt Dallas, the Giant Book Fair, table decor from the Steampunk Party, one of the many decorated elevators, Christina Lauren at the Giant Book Fair)
Once I got back into town, I had to kick it into high gear to finish up a couple of editing projects for books that are being published at the end of this month. I’m out of crazy mode now, but just barely! Oh, and my kids and I visited an alpaca farm with a homeschool group that we belong to. Just take a look at these cute faces (my youngest was actually having fun, I swear – he’s just incapable of smiling for pictures without looking like an insane person, so I told him not to smile – trust me, if you saw the other pictures, you’d know that this is the best one).
Here’s what you may have missed on the blog these past two weeks:
- Spelled by Betsy Schow (excerpt & giveaway) – Last chance to win the gift basket!
- Let’s Discuss – My kids LOVE to reread!
- Crimson Bound by Rosamund Hodge (review)
- Top Ten Things I Loved about RT 2015
- A Taylor Made Life by Kary Rader (review)
- The Shattered Court by M.J. Scott (review)
- Until You Find Me by Amber Hart (review)
- I Swear I’ve Seen This Guy Before – a discussion about an over-used cover model.
Next week on FYFA:
- Siren’s Fury by Mary Weber (review & giveaway)
- Nowhere but Here by Katie McGarry (excerpt & spotlight) – and maybe a review, if I manage to read it by then (since I picked it up at RT)
- Spelled by Betsy Schow (review & giveaway)
- Let’s Discuss – Something. I have no idea what (that seems to be the pattern lately!)
From RT:
I picked up over 60 books at RT. I won’t post them all here, but if you want to see what I got, check out my recap of the event!
From NetGalley:
For Review:
Purchased:
Um, even though I’ve recently gotten a TON of books, I STILL bought some from the recent Book Outlet Mother’s Day sale (mostly for my kids!). Here are a couple that were for me (these are mostly books that I already had one book in the series and wanted to get others) –
Um, I could have sworn it was only a couple of books – maybe some snuck into my cart? (Honey, if you’re reading this, I’m really sorry – but they were all less than $3 each!).
Great Discussions/Goings On Around the Blogosphere:
I have to confess that I haven’t had time to keep up with discussion posts these past two weeks. I have LOTS of catching up to do on the discussion challenge. So just head on over there and check the posts out yourself – and let me know if there are some really good ones that I need to get to sooner rather than later!!

I am excited for you to review Faking Perfect!
Missie @ A Flurry of Ponderings
I’m excited to read that one!
So cool. I really must check out RT next year. Anyway, I hope you’ll enjoy your haul. I got Something Real this week as well. Let’s hope we’ll both enjoy it. 🙂
After all the buzz about her newer book, I couldn’t resist Something Real. Can’t wait to read it!
You totally get a pass for not posting last week 😉 Looks like a lot of fun! My husband and I were talking about me going to RT next year! I can’t wait. It’ll be my first time in Vegas.
Yay! I’m hoping to go next year too! Yeah, I feel like I’ve been running on fumes these past few weeks, but the rush is (mostly) over.
RT sounds awesome. One day maybe I’ll make it. Looks like you got some good books (plus the ton at RT). Something Real is one I have had my eye one for a while. I have Faking Perfect too and hope it is as good as it sounds. Have a wonderful week!
Yes, LOTS of good books lately! How I will ever read them all, I have no idea …
Hey jealousy! After that massive book haul at RT you still went shopping? For your kids, sure *wink*. I hope you get a review up for Nowhere But Here soon, I have heard it was a great read. Enjoy all your new books!
In my defense, I DID actually do this shopping online before I went to RT, when I was still under the strange disillusionment that I wouldn’t get that many books there. Um, yeah, I was wrong.
Niiice! I loved the Angel Burn trilogy! It was different, yet I loved it! Hope you enjoy all the new reads!
Here’s my STS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
I won the third book in the Angel Burn trilogy a while ago from Goodreads First Reads, but I never managed to pick up the first two books. I decided it’s time to remedy that!
Wow! You have been super busy! And you got to see Ilona and Gordon! So jealous!
Have a great week girl!
Naomi @ Naomi’s Reading Palace
Yes! I knew I wanted to read Ilona Andrews, but seeing them made me really want to read their books!
Never Always Sometimes looks so good. I hope you enjoy it. I have read the Taken series. I had some issues with it, but I hope you enjoy it.
Taken is one of those books that’s totally luring me in with the pretty cover. I wasn’t willing to buy it before, but for $2 … I decided I’d try it.
LOL I love that you have told your little one not to smile! So funny! Sounds like you had a great time at RT. I’ve seen Faking Perfect on a lot of hauls this weekend and I’m intrigued enough to want to go check it out. Hope you enjoy all your new books!
I don’t know when my son forgot how to smile for a camera and look like a normal human being – I swear he used to be able to! Now he just looks like he’s certifiably insane or something – like, I seriously don’t know how he contorts his mouth into such strange positions and thinks he’s smiling. 🙂
Sounds like you’ve been very busy lately. I totally understand how that feels. I’m going to have a crazy next couple of weeks and then it should FINALLY slow down for a bit.
Something Real looks really good – I do want to read that! Yay for book sales.
Crazy schedules can be hectic, but interesting! Hope things calm down for you soon!!
Glad to know you were able to love your time at RT. I would love to be able to go to an event like that! I am going to go check out your post about it now. Oh, and as for the haul I have read Uglies before! I thought it was okay, but it didn’t really grip me. But then again, I read the second book and loved that one quite a bit, so I will continue reading the last two books at some point too.
I had one of the later books in the series that I got in a Scholastic sale where I could fill a box with books for a set price. But I didn’t have Uglies, so I thought I’d pick it up while it was super cheap. I’m definitely interested in reading this series!
You were at RT?? Sorry, I’m late to the party. I was at RT as well. Too bad I didn’t see you:(
