Top Twelve Bookish Movies I Still Need to See

Posted November 11, 2015 by Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction in Top Ten Tuesday / 28 Comments

I know this post is a day late, but I had it like 90% done, and then managed to get in a fender bender with a parked car in a parking lot, which kind of ruined my day, and I never got around to posting it. Since I put the effort in to create graphics, I figured I might as well still post it!!
Top-Ten-Tuesday
Today’s Top Ten Tuesday is:

Top Ten (Twelve) Books to Movies I Can’t Wait to See (or Still Need to See)

When I was younger, I went to the movies ALL THE TIME. Now – not so much. I’m lucky when I catch movies on Netflix, and I often forget about them before I manage to see them. Still, if there are any movies that I still make an effort to see, it’s book-to-movie adaptations, and I have a list of some I haven’t managed to get to yet or I’m really looking forward to. Here they are!

Oops, I Missed These:

Book-Thief-Movie

The Book Thief – I haven’t read the book yet either. I know, I know. It’s been sitting on my shelf for ages, waiting for me. I meant to read it before the movie came out, and …

Paper-TownsMovie

Paper Towns – I haven’t read this book either. (You may see a theme here.) This one was never as top priority for me. I’m not a mega John Green fan or anything, but I like him.
Mortal-Instruments
City of Bones – I meant to see this movie. I even read the book shortly after the movie came out. But I just never got around to it. I never got around to reading more of the series either – but I still plan to!
.
The-DUFF-movie
The DUFF – I just got this book recently from #BooksforTrade, so I definitely plan to read it and then watch the movie. You know, someday

Looking Forward To:

Scorch-Trials

The Scorch Trials – I haven’t missed this one yet. It’s still in theaters – I still have a chance! I’ll probably take my son to this one, since he’s a huge James Dashner fan, so I think I actually will manage to get to the theater for it – but who knows?

Unwind-Movie

Unwind – This movie isn’t even slated to go into production until April of 2016, but I’m already anxiously anticipating it. If there is ONE series that I want to see in movie form, this is it. Please, Constantin Films, don’t mess it up!!!
5th-Wave-Movie
The 5th Wave – I loved this book, and I think it will make an even better movie. Plus, my son enjoyed this book too – so that’s always an extra reason to see the movie.

 Allegiant-Movie

Allegiant – Yep, I know I’m the only person on earth who liked this book. Looking forward to the movie too!

Mockingjay-Movie

Mockingjay Part II – Um, this is the point where I confess that I haven’t watched Part I yet. Need to fix that fast!
Alice-Movie
Through the Looking Glass – How can you not be excited about this one? Just, how?
DISNEY_BEAUTY-AND-THE-BEAST_EMMA-WATSON_
Beauty and the Beast – I’m stretching on this one because I don’t even know if I’ve ever read the original fairy tale, but this was my favorite Disney movie of all time, and I’m SO excited for the new movie!!

So, what movies are you looking forward to? I want to know!

  1. The Book Thief was amazing and one of the best book to movie adaptions I have seen in awhile.

I just recently watched The Duff and I really liked it. So funny and it was actually better than the book because it wasn’t as gritty or sex centered if that makes sense.

Either way, I hope you end up liking them all! There are some I am dying to see as well on your list.

I’ve never read The Duff but I did like the movie.
Haven’t read Papertowns but want to see it.
I didn’t really like The Mortal Instruments movie but love the book. It’s going to be a tv show now on abc family.
Didn’t know Unwind was going to be a movie.
I’m looking forward to some of these movies since I liked the books.
For the record I also happened to really like Allegiant.

  3. AHHH I’M RIDICULOUSLY EXCTIED FOR ALICE RETURNING!! 😀 I didn’t even realise that movie was in the works until a few weeks ago and now…*omg dies of happiness and longing* I CAN’t WAIT SQUEE. *ahem* I still need to see Paper Towns and the Scorch Trials and the Duff. o.O I loved all those books, but, gah, I never seem to have time to watch movies. All my free time goes into blogging! 😛

  4. I didn’t much like city of bones. It was okay but nothing awed me about. I felt the same about the books for the most part. want to see paper towns. I enjoyed that book. also Duff. haven’t read that though. I am so looking forward to 5th wave. I may fangirl for that one. I am also anxious to see mockingjay part 2. Beauty and the beast and the alice look good too.

  5. I’m super excited about Beauty and the Beast, too! I hope it will be everything I’m expecting it to be. 🙂 Such high expectations!
Umm about City of Bones – the movie’s pretty bad. I mean, I was hoping they’d do the sequels for the sake of continuity but yeah. There’s a TV show coming out soon, I think, called Shadowhunters, with a totally different cast. I’ll have to check that out. I read most of the series but never finished it.

  6. Movies in general just make me so happy! The Book Thief is a brilliant book and adaption as well, so I know you are going to like those. I was sorely disappointed by the City of Bones movie, but I am crossing my fingers for the television show and hoping I will enjoy that more! I need to see the Scorch Trials and Allegiant as well seeing as I really loved Insurgent and the changes that they made to it. Ooh, and all the releases to come look so good ^.^

  7. I didn’t know they were filming the sequel to Alice in Wonderland. Now I know, I’m so excited!! I just watched the trailer and it looks great! Great costumes again and I can’t wait to see more of the Hatter.

I haven’t read The 5th Wave yet, but the trailer looks really great so I’ll try to read it before the movie comes out!

  8. Oh no a fender bender 🙁 I’m so sorry! Are you and everything vehicular wise okay?

I am INCREDIBLY FLIPPING OUT MY INNER LITTLE GIRL WHO DRESSED UP AS BELL IS FLAILING excited for the live action version of Beauty and the Beast! Me, and unenthusiastic sloth, FREAKED! 😀 😀 😀

And of John Green’s books, Paper Towns was my favorite. It made me laugh really hard… of course I hated the ending, and there were aspects that made me go o.O “bleh” but it was still my fav, and nat wolfe is playing the main dude! SO I STILL REALLY WANT TO SEE THAT MOVIE! All in good time tho!

Hope you get to see The Book Thief. It was really good. I too need to get around to reading the book. It’s just really big xD and all these other books are being published and thrown at me
