November Recap

November Recap

Best of the Bunch, Monthly Recap 19

My Goings On in November: I felt like November flew by! I honestly can’t figure out how it’s already gone! Luckily, I did manage to accomplish a few things. I wrote a play for my homeschool co-op musical theater class. Yep, I did it, and I’m actually going to let people see it. (You know, probably.) We finished up the first semester of homeschool co-op and we had our end of semester performances. The kids did fantastic, and it was lots of fun! I finished editing Defy by Allie Juliette Mousseau! I caught up on watching The Walking Dead on Netflix, so I switched to binge watching the second half of season 2 of The 100, and when I finished that, I moved onto Once Upon a Time (I’m on season 2 of that.) I need relatively exciting shows to watch while I’m on the elliptical to keep me motivated! And I’m trying hard to… Read more »

Do You Read Novellas? Let’s Discuss!

Do You Read Novellas? Let’s Discuss!

Let's Discuss 43

You all know that I have major issues with finishing series – I often find myself way behind. But even those series that I’m on top of, I’ll sometimes realize when I hop over to Goodreads or see a review that I’ve missed something – the novellas. It seems like more and more often lately, every series has novellas attached to them, but I very rarely read them. I used to – back when I had more time to read – but I find myself skipping them most of the time nowadays. Sometimes it’s because I didn’t pay enough attention and didn’t know they existed, but most of the time I just don’t find them that appealing. Oddly, I’ve enjoyed the novellas that I have read. And there are some that REALLY add to plot and that I’m so glad I read. For instance, the novellas that went with Brigid… Read more »

Between the Notes by Sharon Huss Roat – Guest Post & $20 Giveaway

Author Top Ten Lists, Giveaways (Ended) 10

I remember seeing this book back when it came out and thinking it looked really good, so I thought this would be a great opportunity to introduce you to it and give you a chance to win a $20 gift card as well. PLUS, you get this very fun guest post about Roat’s disastrous attempts at titling the book.   Book Title Brain Dump: A Top Ten List of Rejected Titles for BETWEEN THE NOTES by Sharon Huss Roat I learned recently that R.L. Stine, author of the Goosebumps books, starts writing ONLY after he is inspired by a great title. As someone who always struggles to find the perfect title, I’m more than a little jealous. Here’s a look at some of the titles I threw out there in the process of naming BETWEEN THE NOTES. Thankfully, none of them stuck. 1) IVY’S TOWER – This was original title, which I… Read more »

December Discussion Challenge Link-Up and Giveaway

Book Blog Discussion Challenge 2

Welcome to the December monthly link-up for the 2015 Book Blog Discussion Challenge hosted by Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction and Shannon @ It Starts at Midnight! Well, the year is coming to a close, but our discussion challenge is still going strong! The winner of our October discussion challenge link-up was Cilla @ Paved with Books! She chose Prisoner of Night and Fog by Anne Blankman as a “scary” book, and I loved her reason- “The main character has connections to Hitler so I imagine that would be pretty scary!” VERY accurate, yes? If you don’t know what this challenge is all about or haven’t signed up yet (but want to), head on over to the challenge sign-up page to learn more! Even if you’d rather not join, we hope you’ll stop by occasionally to check out the MANY discussion posts that are being linked up here –… Read more »
