Last week on FYFA (and in my life):
Yesterday, we celebrated Christmas with my husband’s side of the family. We had a lot of fun AND I got an awesome mug from Cait @ Paper Fury’s Society6 store (you can see a pic in the Book Haul section below). Most of my week was spent preparing for the celebration—cleaning up, last minute shopping, wrapping presents, getting haircuts, etc. So, not much time for posting. And still no discussion post this week. Boo hoo!

For Review:
I’d already gotten an ARC of this one, so imagine my surprise when a finished copy showed up at my door! Thanks so much, Margaret K. McElderry Books!! The mug in this picture was a Christmas gift from my brother-in-law, and it’s from Cait @ Paper Fury’s Society6 store. (The ornament was just for decoration, and I promptly shattered it right after taking this picture—guess it’s good that I have a picture of it!)
From The 5th Annual Novel Cuisine Luncheon:
I had so much fun at this creative event and got some great books too!

Sometimes it’s nice to get a family celebration before the holiday. Such a hectic but awesome time of the year. Hope your holidays are great!
I’ll have to check out that BEA discussion too as I’m curious.
Yeah, we usually celebrate on Christmas Eve, but this year we decided to do it earlier and it was much less hectic.
Aw, your poor ornament! It looks great in the photo though! Glad you had a nice Christmas with your husband’s family. That mug is awesome!
-Lauren
Yes, we have awful luck with those ornaments. My dad gave me three of them a few years ago—one my mom knocked down, one the cleaners broke, and then this one I dropped (we hadn’t put it out the last couple of years either). Guess we can’t be trusted with fragile things!!
I love the mug!! That’s a fabulous gift! 🙂
Thanks! I thought it was absolutely adorable!
We decided to celebrate on Christmas Eve this year. I like that as Christmas Day is when I like to be home, enjoying being with my son and snuggling up on the couch. Great haul and I love the coffee mug. I confess, I’m a hoarder of mugs. LOL
Have a Merry Christmas!
Yes, a low-key Christmas will definitely be nice. We’ll have to make some new Christmas Eve traditions, though.
I love the mug. Too bad about the ornament, though. It sounds like you had a good week. Happy holidays!
Yeah, apparently I can’t keep fragile things alive for long. I also kill plants, so …
Glad you had fun celebrating with family. That mug is awesome!!! Have a lovely week!
Thanks! I love the mug—Cait is so talented. 🙂
I really like Sarah Fine’s books! I haven’t gotten to this series yet so looking forward to your review 🙂
I loved the first book, and so far the second is really good too (I’m only about 50 pages in).
What a busy week! I would be so flustered. It looks like you had a wonderful early Christmas!
We did! It was very nice!
You get 2 Christmases!? That’s just…. brilliant! Hey jealousy!
How did your family know to get you that mug? You must have great gift givers in your fam, or you are really great at dropping hints. Lol! Nice haul of books you got. Ooh, I gotta sign up for that Discussion Challenge, I almost forgot!
Have a great week!
We make lists for each other, so the mug was one of my suggestions. They’re very sweet, but not brilliant enough to come up with that on their own. 🙂
I need to read my copy of The Cursed Queen.
Happy reading, Nicole!
I’m really enjoying it!!
I’m so glad you had a wonderful time with your husband’s family and I LOVE that mug! Enjoy drinking coffee, hot cocoa and whatever else you may put in your mugs (I’d even use it for orange juice just so I could use it all the time lol).
I know—the mug is adorable and I’m loving it!
