Top 10 of 2017: Best Boys in Books

Posted December 27, 2017 by Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction in Let's Discuss, Top Ten Tuesday / 22 Comments

I decided to participate in the Top 10 of 2017 Event, which is being hosted over at Kimberlyfaye Reads. Each day has a different top ten list associated with it (you can see the list in the image above). You can choose to complete some or all of the lists (I’m not sure yet if I’ll be doing them all). Feel free to join in at any time!

TOP TEN MALE CHARACTERS I READ IN 2017

I switched this topic up a bit. Instead of specifically listing best book boyfriends, I decided just to list my favorite boys in books (of course, those lists often overlap, but not always). Just like with yesterday’s list, I’m using books that I read in 2017, not necessarily books that were published in 2017.

Broody

1. Broody McHottiepants from Brooding YA Hero: Becoming a Main Character (Almost) as Awesome as Me

It should be quite obvious why I love Broody. I mean, he’s perfect, right? Just ask him. Broody’s top ten addictions list is one of the most fun guest posts I’ve ever had on the blog!

2. Will from Long Way Down

It only takes seven floors to become completely captivated by Will.

3. Adam and Julian from A List of Cages

I couldn’t choose only one boy from this book, so I went for both of them. This is such an incredibly heartbreaking story and the amount of love I had for these characters just cannot be contained!

4. Abel from Defy the Stars

Technically, Abel is an AI, but he’s “male” so I’m counting him. Abel is the most hilarious robot of ever, and I love him!

5. Simon from Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda

Do I even need to explain why Simon is on this list? Is anyone else super excited for the movie?!

6. Carver from Goodbye Days

You can probably see by now why I didn’t keep this list as “book boyfriends.” Most of the guys I’m choosing aren’t necessarily hunky boyfriend types but tortured souls. How can you not love Carver, though, and want to help him put himself back together after the tragedy that he faces?

7. David from What to Say Next

I loved seeing an autistic character in the spotlight!

8. Briggs Henry from The Lake Effect

There was something about Briggs’s voice that I LOVED. He was funny and sardonic without being even the teensiest bit of a jerk. Totally lovable character.

9. Justyce from Dear Martin

I loved that Nic Stone wrote such an incredibly relatable character who could help us see the issue of racism from all sides.

10. Emmett from Nyxia

Emmett has such a unique voice (I loved his portrayal by Dominic Hoffman in the audiobook). He’s tough, smart and he’s got tenacity to spare!

Who were your favorite guys of 2017? I want to know!

  1. I really need to read the Brooding YA Hero book I guess. It sounds like a hoot. I can’t believe you didn’t pick Gansey from The Raven Boys. I so love him. 🙂 Another fun pick! I think tomorrow’s post for the top 10 I’m doing is book boyfriends, so you can see who I picked for this year. My top 10 for the one I’m doing today is linked below!
