Sunday Post & Giveaways Galore – 3/11/18

Posted March 11, 2018 by Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction in Sunday Post / 46 Comments

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.

This past week on FYFA (and in my life):

I finally heard back about that writing workshop I was hoping for, and unfortunately I wasn’t accepted. I’m a little sad, but let’s face it, this is going to be one of MANY rejections if I’m going to pursue writing, so I guess I should get used to it. Since that workshop didn’t work out, I signed up for one through Writing & Illustrating for Young Readers in Utah in June (this wasn’t one you have to apply for). It’s a revision workshop led by Trent Reedy, and I’m excited to learn from it!

We spent pretty much all day yesterday doing our taxes. The good (bad?) news is, we’re getting a really big refund. But it’s never fun getting everything collected and entered. Getting the check will be a little more fun, though. 🙂

Also this week, my blog was featured on ServiceScape, a company that offers freelance editing and other writing services. They had very kind things to say about my blog, and I’m incredibly flattered!

Here’s what you may have missed on the blog this past week:

  1. I’m sorry you weren’t selected for the workshop. Your new one in Utah will be fun, though. I can’t wait to see you go through the process and publish your book. Whooo for those taxes!!

  2. Bummer about the workshop rejection. But yeah, rejections happen in the writing world! So you’re a writer now! 😉

And yay for tax refund! I consider it a win every year that I don’t have to pay them! Lol!!

Nice new read too! Congrats on the win! Hope you enjoy it!

    Here’s my STS

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  3. I am so sorry that you weren’t selected, but I am also really happy that you were able to sign up for another! And YAY for a big tax return, that is awesome! And wow, that is such an honor to have your blog featured, you definitely deserve it 😀

    • Yeah, I was disappointed about the workshop, but not super surprised, since so many people have a lot more experience in the writing world than I do, and it seems like that’s a factor for these types of workshops. The waiting was the hardest part—now that I know, I’m able to move on in my mind.

  4. oh sorry to hear that Nicole. I know how much you were looking forward to it! Even though we know we have to get used to rejection… it’s not easy. So I’m a little sad for you too! BUT I’m already over it because that Writing & Illustrating for Young Readers in Utah in June sound so good! And.. big tax refunds YEAH!Now off to read what ServiceScape about one of my top my fav blogs ever!

  5. Sorry to hear about the workshop, Nicole. I hope the one in June is a real benefit. How awesome that your blog was recognized! Definitely a good feeling. And hooray for another book win! 2018 is your year! 🙂

  6. When one door closes another one opens (or….you end up where you’re meant to be). Whatever words of wisdom you like, I am soooooooo excited and jealous that you are going to a writing workshop with Trent Reedy. He is one of the most sincere and kind and down-to-earth authors I’ve met. I can’t wait to hear how it goes!

  7. I’m so sorry to hear that you weren’t accepted for the writing workshop. The one you’re doing in June sounds wonderful though so that’s great you were able to line up another one so quickly.

That’s so great that your blog was recognized too. Congrats! It’s well deserved. 🙂

  8. Congrats on being featured on serviceScape! And while the writing workshop thing is no doubt disappointing, it’s a fact that many good writers don’t always get selected or heck ever published, as we all know. Nice that you found another one to attend and hopefully it’s a great resource!

I can’t wait to read Obsidio!

  9. Nicole, I’m sorry to hear about the other workshop, too. But I’m thrilled you’ll be joining us for workshop and classes at Writing and Illustrating for Young Adults (WIFYR) in Utah this summer. It really is a great conference, the next best thing to an MFA. We pack a lot of great writing insights into that one week, and we learn a lot from one another. Feel free to join me on the Facebook or to email me with any questions or concerns you may have. Thanks so much for being willing to join us and to share your writing with us. I wish you the best.

  10. With one lose, three wins, I think your week was still awesome. Congrats on getting featured and being a part of another workshop!

This is my first on visiting one of your Sunday posts and I’m loving the Blogger Birthdays and Blogoversaries! I’ve always found birthdays to be an important event and now being a part of the blogging community, I feel obliged (in a positive way!) to celebrate other bloggers’ blogoversaries (which totally sounds awesome!).
