Sunday Post: Book Pre-order Campaigns & Giveaways Galore – 6/30/19

Posted June 30, 2019 by Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction in Sunday Post / 20 Comments

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.

This past week on FYFA (and in my life):

I don’t know where my head is at lately, but I keep making weird mistakes here on the blog—twice this past week, I tried to post something and didn’t manage it. (On Sunday, I apparently didn’t hit the Publish button and didn’t notice it until that night. And on Friday I scheduled a post but apparently scheduled it for 6 PM instead of AM—I noticed it a bit after noon and fixed it). And I also lost a draft of a Sunday Post last week. None of these are huge things, but it’s just making me feel scatterbrained!

Not much going on this week. I watched the Democratic debates on Wednesday and Thursday. It would be nice if we could see some actual change in this country, but I’ll confess I’m not super optimistic. At this point Trump feels sort of bulletproof—like no matter what ridiculous, horrible things he says or does, it won’t matter because in the end he’s giving conservatives a lot of the things they want so they’ll keep voting for him. Sorry to get political (especially if you’re part of the population that supports him), but I honestly struggle to understand it, and it affects my general outlook on life lately.

Here’s what you may have missed on the blog since my last Sunday Post:

Book Blogger Birthdays and Blogoversaries:

Birthday-150 Blogoversary-150x150

Here are the birthdays and blogoversaries for this week! I hope you’ll go wish these bloggers well on their special days! Make sure you check out the calendar to see what you might have just missed or what’s coming up. (If you want to be added to the calendar, it’s easy! Just fill out the birthday/blogoversary form.)

Book Haul:

For Review:

Thanks to Random House Kids for some fun surprise bookmail: Awesome Dog 5000.
And then I also got The Last Dragon, the sequel to The Revenge of Magic (which I really enjoyed!). Thanks to Simon & Schuster Children’s for that one!

NetGalley/Edelweiss:

Once again, I keep forgetting to include these, so these are from the last few weeks.

I saw Sorry for Your Loss over at We Live and Breathe Books and knew it was a “me” book. A Spark of White Fire was one of my favorite reads of 2018, so I knew I needed A House of Rage and Sorrow in my life! Breath of Flowers intrigued me because it’s a manga about a transgender girl (sort of–it’s complicated). And Lexi Magill and the Teleportation Tournament is one I’ve had my eye on for a long time!

And then there’s Maybe He Just Likes You, which technically isn’t NetGalley or Edelweiss, but just a review copy I received from the publicist. It’s #MeToo for middle-graders. I really enjoyed Barbara Dee’s Star-Crossed, so I was happy to give this one a try.

Great Discussions/Goings On Around the Blogosphere:

  1. Oh yeah, I’ve missed mistakes too. Like this week, I swear I edited my Wednesday post like 4 times before it literally went back to looking the exact same and I just said forget it! Too stressful! Lol. I always double check what my posts look like in preview before posting and they always look fine…then I publish them and something bizarre happens that was not in the preview. Computers are weird I guess. Lol.

Nice new reads. All totally new to me ones but I hope you will enjoy them all!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

  2. I screw up my blog fairly often. Usually I catch the mistakes before too many people see them. I didn’t get to watch the debates because I was busy, but I saw the highlights. I think any of those people would be better than Trump.

  3. I always have to post at the same time of the day if I’m scheduling ahead because it’s in military time and it confuses me. LOL I really hope we get a good Democratic candidate. We need change – GOOD change – and hopefully it’ll happen. I know people who still support Trump; I didn’t get it then, I really really don’t get it now.

  4. I watched the Democratic Debates and just felt…blah. Like you said… it seems like Trump will be able to get away with anything and everything (one example: the children that have been separated from their parents at the border, and the conditions they’re living in), and there are no consequences. It’s hard to maintain a positive outlook on life when atrocities are being committed daily.

Thanks for mentioning my birthday! The Revenge of Magic looks good. I love a good dragon story. 😉

  5. Going Undercover is a neat series especially for graphic artists turned bloggers! I have felt your scatter brained moments myself. It is terribly irritating but it doesn’t last forever thank goodness! Breath of Flowers sounds really intriguing, I looked at it too.
