Sunday Post: Book Pre-order Campaigns & Giveaways Galore – 3/1/20

Posted March 1, 2020 by Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction in Sunday Post / 34 Comments

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.

This past week on FYFA (and in my life):

This was a rough week for me. First I had insomnia for a few days, which left me feeling fuzzy and headachy. I was hoping to get another post up this week, but I couldn’t work at my computer because I found that my eyes couldn’t focus and then my headache would get worse and I’d get nauseous.

Then, I finally got four good hours of sleep (with the help of Tylenol PM), and it turned out it was a good thing because I had to rush my dad to the ER the next day when he had a stroke. It was looking very grim—both his receptive and expressive language were incredibly impaired and he was constantly confused. He couldn’t answer even basic questions like his name and birthdate or follow very basic instructions for well over 24 hours.

But, then, last night we had some signs of hope when he suddenly turned a corner and seemed to realize what was happening and even knew what day it was (and that they were supposed to be leaving for Florida—obviously that trip is not happening now). If you’re a believer in God, you might be interested to hear that this very sudden turnaround came just as the entire worship, tech and leadership team at my church was praying for him.

I’m heading back to the hospital this morning, so hopefully I’ll find out that the progress has continued.

Here’s what you may have missed on the blog since my last Sunday Post:

  1. I hope your dad continues to improve!
I get insomnia sometimes also, I’ve heard melatonin helps but I haven’t tried it yet.
    Enjoy your week ahead.

Prayer is so powerful! I’ll be keeping you all in mine. I pray your next update will be excellent news.

  3. So sorry to hear about your dad! That’s awful, but I am so glad to hear he was coming around the other day! That’s a relief!

It was funny you mentioned insomnia, because I swear at times I feel like I have it. I can’t fall asleep as easily and have had to use sleep aids every night. Of course, I’m waking up earlier than my standard early to help my mom take care of her dogs while she’s recovering from a surgery. Losing 20 minutes apparently takes it toll on me by the end of the week and while I wanted so desperately to go to bed early Friday night, I couldn’t because said dogs decided to be extra needy that night. Let’s just say, it’s going to be a very long 6 weeks. One week down though!

I hope you enjoy whatever reads you got this week! I’ll be sure to get your new copy of Cinder at the signing this week!

    Happy Reading!

    • Hope the six weeks is going better than it started out. I tend to get insomnia lately before my period, but it’s usually only for a night or two and it isn’t usually this bad. This time it lasted for a whole week and there were days that I felt like I didn’t sleep AT ALL. I was so bleary all the time. I really hope this isn’t going to be a trend!

  4. I’m so sorry to hear about your dad! How scary. Glad to hear he’s turned a corner though, and yes I do believe prayer makes a difference. Sometimes I think it’s no coincidence…

Sending lots of well wishes that he makes a full recovery or as full as possible! Take care this week.

  5. Oh wow, I’m sorry to hear about your dad. That’s great that he’s starting to be more aware though – I hope that he continues to improve!! And I hope that you get some much needed sleep!!

  6. I’m a long term sufferer of insomnia and mine has flared up again as well… so I can relate to those feelings a lot. I am sorry you experienced them though 🙁 I also am really sorry about the news about your dad! I am glad that he seems to be taking a turn for the better (the power of God, truly) and I hope he only continues to recover more and more.

  7. Hope your father’s doing well! I have some experience with aphasia (saying the wrong word due to stroke,) and confusion related to strokes, through both of my grandfathers, so if you ever need to talk to someone who’s been there, feel free to DM me on Twitter (don’t be offended if I don’t reply straight away – I only check it about once a day, but I’ll get back to you when I can!)
