Sunday Post: Book Pre-order Campaigns & Giveaways Galore – 5/24/20

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.

This past week on FYFA (and in my life):

I’ve been sort of pre-occupied this week (read below to see why) and only managed to put up one post. I did do some blog hopping at least!

Here’s what we’ve been up to while safe indoors this week:

  • Most of my week was occupied by the idea of … PUPPIES! Yep, we’re planning to get a puppy. I know—us and the rest of the quarantined universe. Which is why we don’t have one yet. But now that the idea has entered our minds, there’s no getting rid of it. My daughter is super excited about the idea of training a puppy (right), and we’ve been watching tons of videos about it. I’ve also been obsessively checking my email to see if we’ve been approved and looking at available puppies (that I can’t choose because I don’t have an approved application). It’s kind of a sickness at this point.
  • We watched:
    • The whole family watched Zathura: A Space Adventure, the Jumanji spin-off from 2005. Once again, we were really pleasantly surprised with the movie. The movie industry made some pretty huge advances in the 10 years between the original Jumanji and the spin-off.
  • I finished two books this week
    • I listened to Lucky Caller by Emma Mills. Loved it—and already reviewed it!
    • I read Didn’t I Say To Make My Abilities Average In The Next Life?! Vol. 1 by FUNA. My daughter has read this whole series of light novels, and she’s been begging me for ages to read them too. So, I read the first volume. It was pretty entertaining—definitely reads like an anime (it was turned into an anime) and a little more showing than telling that I would prefer, but I really enjoyed the experience of reading it and knowing which parts my daughter was probably loving.  🙂

Here’s what you may have missed on the blog since my last Sunday Post:

This week got away from me, and I only posted once!

  1. I know a lot of people have been getting puppies while in quarantine. I mean, it’s the perfect time! Everybody’s available to train it, and having a pet is definitely a great way to stay occupied. Not to mention an amazing mood booster! Puppies totally increase happiness 😀 Are you leaning towards any specific breeds?

    • That’s exactly it. It’s especially nice that my daughter’s around all summer this year. She’s usually so incredibly busy with all her sports and activities that she wouldn’t have time to help out. Right now, she’s super eager to do lots of training with a pup (my older dogs are already benefiting from her extra free time).

The two dogs we have now are Aussie mixes and they’re awesome, so we’re leaning toward that or a lab (which my husband has always wanted), but we’re definitely leaving ourselves open to other dogs as well.

  2. Oh wow- a puppy! Sounds exciting and fun and exhausting haha! No seriously though I hope you guys find the perfect pup. They have so much love. 🙂
