Sunday Post: Book Pre-order Campaigns & Giveaways Galore – 6/14/20

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.

This past week on FYFA (and in my life):

How is it the middle of June already? I think there’s some sort of time conspiracy going on where the government is stealing days from us. Why has no one been tweeting about that?

This morning was … eventful. At 5:30 AM a car crashed into TWO of our cars that were at the end of our driveway! (We recently had the driveway redone and it has a few issues that my husband wanted to talk to the company about, so he didn’t pull them up onto the main driveway). We live on a curve, and the car just basically kept going straight, crashed into the first car and pushed it right into the second car. And then they drove away!! Needless to say, we’ve had a hectic morning trying to deal with insurance and track the hit and run car down (we have video, but unfortunately not clear enough to read the license plate.)

UPDATE: The people came back a few hours later and turned themselves in. So, now it’s just been dealing with insurance companies and lots of cleanup this morning.

Here’s what else we’ve been up to this week:

  • We watched:
    • The first two seasons of Atypical. Really liking it, but it has a bit more relationship drama than I was expecting—like, does everyone on the show cheat? What’s up with that?
  • I only finished two books in the last two weeks. I’ve been in such a slump!!!
    • I read Knockout by KA Holt. It’s a middle grade verse novel, so it’s a super quick read—the only kind I can seem to get through lately.
    • I finished listening to Wardens of Eternity.
    • Other than that, I started reading two other books and didn’t get very far and am listening to two other books. What is up with me lately? I have a serious lack of reading focus!!!
  • We made some more junk art. Yesterday, my husband made his dad a cool scorpion for his yard in Arizona. We LOVE how it turned out!!
  • Mostly, I was on puppy duty. As most of you probably know, puppies are a LOT of work–Digit is super sweet, and he can also be super rambunctious. When he’s up, he needs constant supervision and when he’s sleeping you just want to sit and stare at his adorableness. I’m not getting much sleep either. He’s totally worth it.

Here are a couple more puppy pics, because I need to share this cuteness with the world:

Here’s what you may have missed on the blog since my last Sunday Post:

Um, well, I only posted once. This is life with a new puppy.

  1. Wow! That’s a scary way to be woken up in the morning. Glad you and your family were nowhere near the cars, but sorry for all the headaches I know this will bring. You pup is too precious.

  2. Oh my, what a mess to have both your cars hit! It’s a good thing the driver decided to do the right thing and return.

I’m just as bummed as you are that we are already in the middle of June. Someone is definitely stealing days. It’s a conspiracy!

Enjoy your reading week. I hope you get more focused.

  3. Oh wow, sorry to hear about the cars! What a nightmare first thing in the morning, glad you managed to get it sorted and the person who did it came back. One small victory. And a book slump? That sucks, everyone hates book slumps and it comes after you’ve managed to get the rest of the family into reading something. At least you had a puppy as a welcome distraction, even if he is hard work. Puppies always are but they are just so lovely.

Oh wow, sorry to hear about your cars! I’m glad the driver turned themselves in so it’s easier to get things figure out with insurance, etc. I’m glad nobody was hurt though!! And aw, your dog is sooo cute. I’m like that with my cat, Charlie – if he’s just laying down or sleeping, I sit and stare at him like he’s a human baby. haha

    • Yeah, we’re actually wondering if they saw the video on Facebook and decided to turn themselves in. Someone suggested we make it public so it could be shared to some local groups, and it had over 3000 views in like an hour. We’re just glad they came back (though it’s definitely still been a pain dealing with insurance and getting the cars fixed/replaced).

  5. Aw cute puppy pic! But oh my gosh that’s crazy about the cars! Glad no one was hurt and glad too they came back and fessed up, but wow that must have been a shock!

  6. Oh no! That sucks about your cars! Glad they did come back, but man! Yeah, insurance companies hardly ever make it easy to work through things.

I understand about puppies taking up a lot of your time! My two are all grown now, but still seem to suck away a lot of my time, so can’t imagine or should I say remember how it was when they were puppies. Hope this week is better for you!

    • Yes, thankfully we have the bulk of the work of dealing with the accident behind us now. We bought a new car and are waiting for the van to come back from the shop. Dealing with insurance has been a bit challenging, but we’re happy the people came forward!

    • Yeah, it’s been kind of a pain dealing with all the insurance and everything. Our new car that only had 3000 miles on it is totaled and the people who hit us don’t have enough coverage for all of the damage to both vehicles, so we’re having to go through our own insurance company and deal with it that way. It’s just all been a little crazy trying to figure out how it’s going to work.
