The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.

This past week on FYFA (and in my life):

  • Birthdays! The 29th was my mom’s birthday and the 1st was my son Noah’s 16th birthday. We had family over yesterday to help us celebrate (including Jade, who visited from college).
  • Driver’s License. Ironically, my daughter Danielle got her driver’s license on Noah’s sixteenth birthday. She turned sixteen back in May but opted not to take driver’s ed until second semester last year, so she didn’t get her permit until late December, and you have to have it for nine months before you can get the license. (Noah most likely won’t be a driver because of his cognitive disability). Anyway, we spent the morning at the DMV. The process was pretty quick, but I wasn’t allowed to go in with her, which freaked her out a little. All went well, though!
  • Reading
    • I’m still listening to Honor Bound by Rachel Caine and Ann Aguirre.
    • I finished reading Maya and the Rising Dark by Rena Barron—a great read!
    • I’m now reading Admission by Julie Buxbaum.
  • Weird dizziness. For the past few weeks, I’ve been having vertigo from time to time or just mild dizziness. The doctor thinks maybe it’s just dehydration? I’ve been trying to drink less coffee and more water, so we shall see. It’s made it a little hard to spend much time on my computer, though, because I just feel generally off when I’m looking at the screen. Hopefully this will go away soon!
  • Digit! My little sweet fluff seems to be mellowing a bit. We can actually hang out with him in the family room without having to constantly stop him from destroying stuff. I call that a win!
Here’s this week’s Digit pictures, including Digit giving Noah a birthday hug!

Danielle Hammelef recommended The Canyon’s Edge to me, and I jumped right on it and ordered it! It’s a new middle grade novel in verse by Dusti Bowling, so basically, it’s going to be amazing.

  1. Yeah for family celebrations. How fun! Congratulations to your daughter. I am amazed to hear about your quick experience at DMV. That’s a nice treat (and nothing I ever experienced myself – lol). Love the pic of digit and Noah. So cute! Thanks for the birthday shoutout!

  2. Danielle Hammelef

You made my day by taking my book rec!!! I am still thinking about The Canyon’s Edge, even today as I recommended it to Lili at Utopia State of Mind who also loves books in verse. Dusti’s latest has a place of honor on my favorites shelf. I hope you are only experiencing a mild case of dehydration. My daughter was hospitalized in the ER when she let herself get dehydrated–they pumped 3 bags of fluid into her–scary stuff when that happened. Always keep hydrating fluids ready is my motto for myself. And now with COVID and flu season upon us too, staying hydrated is even more important. I’m happy you got to celebrate Noah’s birthday as a family!

  3. Happy Birthday to both your mom and Noah. 🙂 I am glad you were able to celebrate with family. I am glad everything went well for Danielle in getting her Driver’s License! Freedom!

I hope staying hydrated does the trick with getting rid of the vertigo. I’m sorry you are going through that. My husband sometimes gets vertigo. I wonder if that’s the reason . . . He’s never seen the doctor for it. Usually because lying down for awhile helps and it doesn’t happen very often.

I hope you have a great week!

  4. I umm must thank you, because I legit had NO IDEA it was my Blogoversary. Plum forgot, frankly. Whoops? Guess I better do… something? ?

ALSO I jumped all over the Christmas Quandary pre-order because we all knew I was going to buy it anyway, so YAY! You’re helping out all over the place today ?

Happy birthday to your mom and Noah, too! And congrats to Danielle! I am honestly so surprised that Jade is still at school, I figured they’d all be shut back down by now, hope she’s doing well and enjoying it! Also, hope your dizziness resolves itself soon!

  5. Vertigo is the worst! I actually had a bout last spring right before Covid restrictions went into place! I think staying hydrated is always a good option, but definitely follow up with your doc if it continues because there are some other treatment options! Hang in there – this too shall pass 🙂
