The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.

This past week on FYFA (and in my life):

  • Thanksgiving! I hope everyone here in the States had a nice holiday, even if things are a bit different this year. The only difference for us was that my dad didn’t come this year (but my mom still comes for half the week—so it’s a little silly, but he’d rather be safe than sorry, which I definitely respect). We had a nice holiday, and Jade is home now, probably for the whole next semester, so that’s nice. Other than a couple of trips to the grocery store, we’ve been staying in.
  • Watching SupernaturalWe’re now on season five of Supernatural, and things are really getting good!!
  • Reading
    • More reading for the Cybils Awards!
    • I listened to Greenglass House and started listening to Ghosts of Greenglass House (working my way up to book four of this series since I have such a hard time reading books out of order).
    • I finished reading Water Bears and then read The Clockwork Crow, Horace Fox in the City, Dragon Assassin, and The Magic in Changing Your Stars. I also started reading Toro and DNFd one book after 50 pages that just wasn’t for me.
  • Working on the office and basement. We finished the basement and we’re almost finished with the office! We did all the painting in the office and installed the new trim. Now we just need to do the casements around the windows and doors (which is a big job, if you remember how much work we put into them!) We brought the TV up from the basement, so now the room is organized into a few separate sections (I took pics from two different angles so you can see—the first one with the piano on the left and my bookcase is when you enter from the new double doors, and the second pic is if you’re standing in front of that bookcase looking into the other corner.)

The office from two angles.

The basement room divider finished with the newly stained back on (it’s painted on the other side).

  • The Dogs! It snowed this week and then melted—Digit had lots of fun digging a hole in the mud when we let him out and forgot about him for a few minutes. He was a mess!!! Bathtime was insane too since Digit is terrified of baths. It took me, Danielle and Scott to give him a bath, and it was still a harrowing process.

Here’s what you may have missed on the blog since my last Sunday Post:

  1. Glad you had a good Thanksgiving, Nicole. And I totally understand your dad’s decision. I’m the same way. Something *might* be safe, but am I willing to stake my health/life on it? The answer is almost always “no.” The office is looking great!

    • Yeah, we’d definitely all rather be safe than sorry. Since my mom is with us half the week every week, she’s probably still sharing our germs with him, but we figure if none of us go anywhere it shouldn’t be a problem. None of us have been out of the house except to do some grocery shopping. When there was a full quarantine, she stopped coming for awhile, but we eventually went back to “shared custody” as we like to call it. 🙂

  2. I got to see one side of my family for Thanksgiving, but the other only made me a to-go dish and I went and picked it up from them wearing a mask. I always hate when my dogs get muddy because they don’t like baths. But one will barely go out if the ground is wet, so she’s not usually an issue. Love the office area, looks good! I need to get my front room/library/office cleaned up so I can take pictures to show it off. Have a good week!

  3. It’s so nice to have our college kids home. Life just feels complete somehow. Glad you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoy those books. They all sound so good!

  4. It’s nice you have your family in a safe way for Thanksgiving. You always do so well with your projects. I am happy all the time we have a small dog, who is also cute. She is pretty adaptable but doesn’t love rain or snow or baths too much. I read a lot but I am too moody this year to read for awards type things. Stay safe and well!

  5. I’m glad you had a good Thanksgiving! I love the shelf in your basement. I wish I had space for something like that. And hahaha, Digit. My dog is terrified of baths too. I’m not strong enough to wash her by myself, so I have to pay professionals to do it.

  6. Jen

Yay for your basement and office turning out so fabulous, they look so great! And awww hugs to you guys for having to bathe Digit. We had a dog that was scared of baths too, when I was growing up. She would be less scared if we took a shower with her, sounds crazy but it worked lol! I’d throw on my swimsuit and get in the shower with her to clean her. It went so much smoother that way ♥.

  7. Wow! You’ve done a lot of work on the house! It all looks great. I’m sure Jade must really love having all that space to herself. And look at Digit’s face in that photo! Lol. So funny.
