January 2022 Monthly Wrap-Up & Best of the Bunch

My Goings-On in January:

Here are the things that stand out to me this month:

  • My son’s Special Olympics snowshoeing competitions. Technically, the state competition took place during the first three days of February, but since I’m late writing this post (partially because of that 3-day competition), I’m including it here. Noah competed in January and qualified for state for both the 50m and 100m races. Then, at state, he got the gold medal overall for both races! He was incredibly excited and we were so impressed that he could run in snowshoes! (You can see a video in my last Sunday Post.) He also had several basketball games in January.
  • Visit to Ball State University. My daughter Danielle has been accepted to several colleges, and now she has the task of deciding where she’s going to attend. We had already visited Purdue, and in January we visited Ball State. We really liked the college a lot, but she decided she’d be happier at Purdue. So, one decision made. (Woo hoo!)
  • Other continued activities: We continued with dog agility with Digit and I went back to volunteering at Bernie’s Book Bank regularly. Oh, and we actually went to see two movies at the theater!

January Best of the Bunch:

(Best of the Bunch is hosted over at Cocoon of Books. We link up our favorite reads of the month!)

My YA Fave for January was In Every Generation by Kendare Blake (though I had a hard time deciding between that one and Call Me Athena–I landed on Generation because the nostalgia factor is just so darn high for me).

For my MG favorite, I went with Everywhere Blue by Joanne Rossmassler Fritz because of the gorgeous verse.

2022 Goals Progress:

The Discussion Challenge is my one and only goal for 2022. (And I lowered it this year.)

Progress: o/11-20 Discussions (Creative Conversationalist)

No discussions posted in January, but I did post my Blogoversary Giveaway, which includes stats and fun facts about my blog!
