August 2022 Wrap-Up & Best of the Bunch

Posted September 3, 2022 by Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction in Best of the Bunch, Monthly Recap / 8 Comments

My Goings-On in August:

Here are the things that stand out to me this month:

  • I started working at Barnes & Noble! I’m working part-time there, and really loving it. This is the most I’ve gotten to talk about book IRL in a very long time! I definitely have less time for blogging now, though—I even missed my Sunday Post twice!
  • Danielle is off to Purdue, and she’s really thriving there. So far her transition has gone better than any of us ever imagined it would. She loves the school and loves the landscape architecture program. (Noah also started his senior year of high school, and Jade started her final year at Illinois Tech).
  • Some possible developments on the publishing front. I can’t say anything beyond that, but in this business you have to celebrate every single forward movement or you’ll go crazy, so I’m celebrating!
  • Still training for the marathon. Last weekend I ran 18 miles, and I still can’t believe I managed it. I hate to keep asking, but I’m going to swallow my pride and do it anyway because I haven’t hit my fundraising goal–if you want to donate toward my run to bring clean water to developing countries, you can do so by clicking the link!

  1. Coyote Sunrise was such a gem of book. Definitely not enough hype for that one. That’s fun that you get to talk about books at work. There is one reader at my job, and it’s been delightful talking to her. I even got her to sign up for a library card.

  2. So glad Danielle is doing great at Purdue! That’s so awesome. Sounds like all the kids are doing well. I can’t wait to hear about your possible publishing news! I still am thinking I might have you read the YA manuscript I’ve finished, but I need to finish going over it one more time myself before I actually end up going forward with anything else on it. I’m a little jealous of your B&N job, so reliving my days as a bookseller through your posts! Hope September is going well for you so far!

  3. I’m really happy for you – working at B&N sounds like a dream come true! even if it means having to find a new balance between blogging and RL (which includes writing, of course). And good luck with the “possible” development on the publishing front! That’s so exciting.

Danielle’s program sounds awesome – very creative. I hope things work well for her.

  4. Oh my goodness Nicole, your kids are just getting so… adulty! I am so glad that Danielle is doing well, that must be such a relief to you! And Jade is a SENIOR?! In COLLEGE!? This is not possible. Sorry, nope.

It is so great that you are working at a bookstore! One of these days, when my kids are older, I’d like to do the same!

And my fingers are crossed that your publishing possibly good news turns into publishing definitely good news!

Omg Nicole 18 MILES?! Holy crap! That is simply beyond impressive! I opened the link and will donate as soon as I get paid!
