The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.
What’s been happening since my last Sunday Post:
Considering how long it’s been since I last put up a Sunday Post, I have very little news. Danielle left for her month-long study abroad in Colombia (she’s having a fantastic time), and I’ve been working on writing, gardening, and projects around the house, the biggest one being…
Painting the bedroom: Since the bathroom remodel got done (you can see pics in my last Sunday Post if you missed them), I’ve been working on repainting the master bedroom. It’s a slow process because I’m also redoing the trim (not just painting it – removing it and replacing it with a different type of trim), and my husband’s had a crazy busy period at work, so it’s mostly me doing it. And we don’t want to move everything out of the bedroom, so I’m kind of managing to do one wall at a time. It’s not ideal, but it works.
Quick trip to Wisconsin: This was the only other thing we did of real note. My sister-in-law bought a lakehouse at the end of last summer, and we went up to enjoy a day with the family. Got to ride in their new boat and see my FIL, who we haven’t seen in a long time (he lives in AZ).
What I Read:
- I listened to The Millicent Quibb School of Etiquette for Young Ladies of Mad Science by Kate McKinnon. I have a signed copy, but I really wanted to listen to it, since she narrates it herself, which was really fun.
- Next was The Dividing Sky by Jill Tew. I’d heard great things about this dystopian, and I was not disappointed!
- I was in the mood for another YA, so I listened to Okay, Cupid by Mason Deaver, a cute (LGBTQA) romance I’ve been meaning to read for forever.
- On a whim, I picked up some verse novels from the library. My first read was Glitch Girl! by Rainie Oet, which has a trans main character and takes place in the nineties (it was semi-autobiographical – I thought it was interesting to read the author’s interviews at the back with real people who inspired two of the characters).
- I listened to Roswell Johnson Saves the World! by Chris Colfer. Again, I have a signed copy, but the audiobook was narrated by him and I couldn’t resist listening to it instead of reading. (My books are sort of turning into a collection instead of things I actually read at this point.)
- Next I listened to Songlight by Moira Buffini. This book is the start to a trilogy, but it has a true epic fantasy feel to it. I hope I don’t let this series fade off my radar by the time the next book comes out (as I tend to do) because this first book was truly fantastic!
- Finally, I listened to Hear Me by Kerry O’Malley Cerra, who I was recently “introduced to” (via email) by another author friend. I’m always interested in books about Deaf and HOH characters since my uncle was Deaf. This audiobook is really interesting because the audio cuts in and out to approximate the way things sound to the MC. I thought it was a genius way to do this!
Here’s what you may have missed on the blog since my last Sunday Post:

- June 2025 Discussion Challenge Link-Up & Giveaway!
- #IMWAYR & #MMGM: Bite-Sized Reviews of Ollie In Between, Ghost Scout’s Honor, River of Spirits, Story Spinners, and Werewolf Hamlet

Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Thanks!
I hope you enjoying you DIY project. I don’t have the patience for that stuff (or the talent). Hope it goes well. How lovely that you had a little family reunion. I have heard great things about those lakes in the mid-west, but more importantly, my daughter raved about the cheese in Wisconsin.
Haha! The cheese is fantastic.
Ah! I missed you post last week! Hope Danielle is enjoying her study program! And yay Wisconsin! Lol. My aunt lives up there and I always love visiting her. The weather tends to be around 10-15 degrees cooler than St. Louis so it’s always a nice reprieve! Lol. Painting the bedroom sounds like a long process but I hope it is going well!
Hope you had a great week! Going to go read your post from today now! Lol.
Have a GREAT day!

Okay, Cupid was on my TBR, so glad to hear it was good! Danielle is so lucky to be doing that awesome study in Colombia. Sounds like lots of home remodeling, but it is nice to have the new rooms. I did see and loved your bathroom remodel.
