April Wrap-Up & Best of the Bunch

April Wrap-Up & Best of the Bunch

Best of the Bunch, Monthly Recap 10

My Goings On in April: I  posted a tongue-in-cheek April Fools’ post all about why I was planning to ban books in my household and give away all of my children’s books. Some of you thought I had truly gone insane! (I actually added April Fools’ to the title on April 2nd so that people wouldn’t be too confused.) I finished editing Baited by Ali Parker and started editing The Light by Kate Thomas and Burn by Allie Juliette Mousseau. Plus, I proofread the first of Zoe Reid’s serials and I did a critique for another promising new author! I made a fool of myself at a Neal Shusterman author event Our homeschool co-op finished up their school year (it ends a bit earlier than the regular year) and my acting and musical theater classes had their final performances. The kids did a great job! My kids also performed violin (my son played… Read more »

March Wrap-Up and Best of the Bunch

March Wrap-Up and Best of the Bunch

Best of the Bunch, Monthly Recap 32

My Goings On in March: I edited a paranormal novella by Kate Thomas called Resounding Truth (you can win a copy of it HERE) and started editing Baited by Ali Parker. I attended a Richelle Mead author event – such fun! My daughter finished out the gymnastics season. She still trains just as much, but competitions are over! Yay for more free time! Most Popular Posts: Google Analytics seemed to go a little crazy sometime this month (I didn’t notice it as soon as I should have) and suddenly said I have basically no visitors. After freaking out for a few minutes that pretty much all of my followers had abandoned me, I finally realized that there was a problem. (It was saying I had zero visitors on days that I had comments, so I knew something was wrong.) I think I fixed the problem. We shall see! Anyway, my stats for this month… Read more »

February Wrap-Up and Best of the Bunch

February Wrap-Up and Best of the Bunch

Best of the Bunch, Monthly Recap 27

My Goings On in February: I finished editing the final two books in the YA fantasy Soul Keepers Trilogy by L.A. Starkey and edited The Core, an NA paranormal that she published under the pen name Kate Thompson. I also finished editing her MG novel Howl at the Moon. I turned 41 and my blog turned two! I hosted a blogoversary and birthday giveaway to celebrate! (It’s still going on, so don’t miss out!) I committed to teaching three classes for next year’s homeschool co-op (it feels so far away – I have a hard time planning so far ahead!). Next year, I’ll be teaching musical theatre and acting again, and I’ll also be teaching a 5th/6th grade writing class. My daughter competed in a few more gymnastics meets and did really well. Her state competition is this month and then we’re done with competing until late fall! (She still has nine hours… Read more »

January Wrap-Up and Best of the Bunch

Best of the Bunch, Monthly Recap 19

My Goings On in January: In December and January, I marathoned the first two seasons of The 100. I’m loving this show and glad to be caught up to the rest of the world! I finished up editing Dare by Allie Juliette Mousseau (an NA book that got rave reviews and even made it to spot #61 on the USA Today Best Sellers list!) I finished a first edit for the first book in a new series coming out by author L.A. Starkey and I did a first read of the final book in her YA fantasy Soul Keepers trilogy. 2014 End of Year Book Survey

2014 End of Year Book Survey

Let's Discuss, Monthly Recap 19

Jamie over at The Perpetual Page Turner has once again created her annual End of Year Book Survey and I thought I’d join in the fun! 2014 Reading Stats Number Of Books You Read: 205 I know it says 206, but I noticed that one book was duplicated in the list. If you want to see all the books I read (bigger than tiny pictures) click on the picture and you’ll be brought to my Goodreads list!   In Goodreads, I generally round up if I have half stars. Still, as you can see, I generally liked most books that I read. The books that aren’t rated are a mixture of books that I read for our homeschooling (I only rate those occasionally) and books that I’ve edited. (I don’t review books that I edit because it seems like a conflict of interest and I can’t really be unbiased.) Because… Read more »

November Wrap-Up and Best of the Bunch

Best of the Bunch, Monthly Recap 22

My Goings On in November: This was a very light month for me on the blog, mostly because … I won NaNoWriMo!!!  (Meaning, I wrote the 50,000 required words to win – I haven’t actually finished my book, but I am darn proud of my progress, especially since it was looking pretty bleak there for a little while.) This was a really tough goal for me, so I’m thrilled! I did a first edit of L.A Starkey’s upcoming MG novel Howl at the Moon (which is great fun!) Best of the Bunch, Monthly Recap 12

My Goings On in September: I attended two different book events at Anderson Bookshop! I went to the Rick Yancey signing and to the YA Fandom Frenzy – both awesome events! I got a new editing client and have started working on her first two books.  Keep an eye out for L.A. Starkey! I finally got around to reading Pride and Prejudice and The Giver, and really enjoyed both of them! I didn’t post reviews of these two, but I may post a discussion about them at some point in the future. Best of the Bunch, Monthly Recap 9

Best of the Bunch is a book blog hop hosted over at Always Lost in Stories on the last day of each month, where we can look back over the books we have read over this past month and give a Best of the Bunch award to our favorite book of that month. I didn’t post quite as many reviews as usual this month, but it’s not bad considering that I was on vacation for 10 days, did an editing job, and moved my blog to WordPress. A busy month!! Best of the Bunch is a book blog hop hosted over at Always Lost in Stories on the last day of each month, where we can look back over the books we have read over this past month and give a Best of the Bunch award to our favorite book of that month. July 2014 I thought I didn’t read quite as much this month because it was kind of a crazy month for me, but when I looked at the number of books I reviewed, it ended up being more than last month!
