Review – Sleepless by Tracey Ward

Review – Sleepless by Tracey Ward

Reviews 2 ★★★★½

Sleepless was such an incredibly enjoyable book!  I was completely swept away by the romance between Alex and Nick and I thought that the concept for the story was really fresh and unique! The story follows 20-year-old Alex.  Alex has a problem.  She “Slips” in her sleep.  She often falls asleep, safe in her bed, and wakes up somewhere else – it could be anywhere.  While she’s learned coping mechanisms, Slipping is far from convenient.  Alex is waiting for the day that she’ll Slip somewhere truly dangerous and she won’t make it home.  Or that something will happen to her while in a non-Slipping dream and she’ll simply disappear forever.  (Her recurring dream about a Jabberwocky doesn’t help to ease that fear). But one day something different happens; a dying man appears to Alex – in real life, outside of her dreams.  She wills him to breathe – and then he… Read more »

Review – Breaking Nova by Jessica Sorenson

Review – Breaking Nova by Jessica Sorenson

All-Time Favorites, Reviews 2 ★★★★★

This book had me so enraptured that I could not put it down! No matter how hard I tried.  Really—I tried.  I knew I was staying up WAY too late and I needed to get some sleep, so I would put the book down and lay there thinking about it until I couldn’t stand it anymore and picked it back up again.  I did this twice.  Finally, I gave up and read until 4:00 AM, when I finally finished the book.  So, do NOT do what I did and start reading this book at 10:30 at night – it will not go well for you.  You have been warned. I don’t want to rehash the plot much because I don’t want to spoil anything, but suffice it to say that both main characters, Nova and Quinton, are broken, chased by death and beaten into submission.  They’re both coping with their… Read more »

October Random Read – The Island by Jen Minkman

It’s time for my October Random Read (a fun meme hosted by I’m Loving Books). The idea is to pick one random book from your Goodreads To-Read list (using Random.org) to read within the month.  As I mention every month, I am in love with this meme!  This is such a great way to make sure that I actually read some of those books that have been in my TBR list for eons.  Last month’s random pick was Cold Steel by Kate Elliott – Book #3 in the Spiritwalker Trilogy.  Since this was the final book in a trilogy, I was definitely happy with the pick – I needed to finish this series!  And I was glad I did!  (I just got the review up this morning – Click on the link to read it.) Another winner chose by Random.org! And this month’s winner is… #542 – The Island by Jen Minkman Synopsis:‘I walk toward the sea. The… Read more »
