August Random Read – Inside Out by Maria V. Snyder

August Random Read – Inside Out by Maria V. Snyder

Random Reads 15

It’s time for my August Random Read (a fun meme hosted by I’m Loving Books). The idea is to pick one random book out of your Goodreads To-Read list (using Random.org) to read within the month.  As I mention every month, I am in love with this meme!  This is such a great way to make sure that I actually read some of those books that have been in my TBR list for eons.  Last month’s random pick was Thorn Queen by Richelle Mead – I just managed to review it yesterday and loved it! (Click on the link to read my review.) Random.org was good to me once again!  And this month’s winner is… #171 – Inside Out by Maria V. SnyderSynopsis:Keep Your Head Down.Don’t Get Noticed.Or Else.I’m Trella. I’m a scrub. A nobody. One of thousands who work the lower levels, keeping Inside clean for the Uppers. I’ve got one friend, do my job and try to… Read more »

The End of Athens by Anthony Karakai Genre: Dystopian Thriller/Urban Fantasy Synopsis:  In the year 2091, humans have lost the ability to dream. After decades of financial and social depression, dreams and aspirations have become a recessive gene—an impossibility of the modern mind.  Greece is one of the worst social and economic disaster zones, and all hope of a better future has been lost. One young man, Nikos, discovers that he is not like everybody else—there is something different about him. Believing that he may be going crazy, he soon discovers that he is the only person in Greece who has inherited the ability to dream. Time is running out as the government continues its tirade of corruption and suppression against the people, and Nikos must find a way to teach others how to dream so that once more society can free itself from the shackles of mental slavery. So, if you’re a blogger, come join in on the fun! Here’s today’s question – Q: What do you do with your books after you’re done reading them? When I was a teenager, I had tons of books on my bookshelf.  So many that I really didn’t know what to do with them all, so I finally decided that I had to get rid of most of them.  So, as an adult, I actually tried not to hang on to my books – I usually got them from the library… Read more »

Top Ten Tuesday (Top Topics that Turn Me Away) & Teaser Tuesday (Haven by Celia Breslin)

Teaser Tuesday, Top Ten Tuesday 0

Today’s Top Ten Tuesday is: Top Ten Topics or Words That Make Me Not Want to Pick Up a Book I actually had a hard time coming up with this list because I’ve never really thought about it before.  But there are definitely types of books that I lean toward and types of books that I avoid.  So, in no particular order, here is a list of topics/words/genres that just don’t do it for me: Non-fiction – The only type of non-fiction that I really read are Christian books (and usually those are because I’m in a Bible study or something, not because I just decided to pick up a non-fiction book). Occasionally, I will read a non-fiction book about a specific topic that I want to learn about (like photography or something), but I almost never see a random non-fiction book and think, “Oooh!  I want to read that!” Erotica – I… Read more »

Okay, this is a generic post because I’m trying to install CommentLuv on my blog.  I’m not really sure if I’m doing it right, though!  I really want all of you lovely people to receive my replies to your comments, so I’m trying CommentLuv out.   Just to make this post more fun, here’s a picture of Joseph Morgan from Vampire Diaries.     I saw this picture over at BS Reviewers (on a post that had nothing to do with Vampire Academy) and immediately thought, “Oh my goodness!  Of course!  Joseph Morgan would be the perfect Adrian Ivashkov!”  The perfect Adrian Ivashkov    He’s perfect, right?  Just had to share!   I would LOVE it if you could comment on this post and let me know if CommentLuv is working as expected for you.   Pretty please?

(Where do you like to go to read other then your home) I don’t really have a favorite reading spot, but I do end up reading in my car a lot.  Not while I’m driving, but while I’m waiting.  Yep, I do a lot of waiting – that’s what happens when you have kids.  Somehow you end up spending LOTS of your time… Read more »
