Top Ten Tuesday (Should be Movies)

Top Ten Tuesday (Should be Movies)

Top Ten Tuesday 0

Today’s Top Ten Tuesday is: Top Ten Books That Should be Movies (or TV Shows)           Unwind by Neal Shusterman – This book has an amazing premise and presents so many questions about the importance of life and freedom.  It’s also very action-packed, so I think it would play well on the big screen. The Selection by Keira Cass – Considering how much people like shows like The Bachelor, this one should be a natural, right? Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins – This could translate into a sweet romance on screen and it would definitely have a huge following.  Of course, they’d have to find the perfect people to play the leads or everyone would revolt! Evertaster by Adam Glendon Sidwell – This is a middle grade novel and the whole time I was reading it, I kept thinking, this should be a kids’ movie!  It was funny and full of great action scenes and it just felt like… Read more »

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host has a blog that they feature each week! So, if you’re a blogger, come join in on the fun! Here’s today’s question – Q: Take us on a tour of your bookshelves! I actually don’t own all that many books.  I used to when I was younger, but after I got married and both space and money were at a premium, I stopped buying books and started relying almost entirely on the library (and, now, my Kindle).  This is my main bookshelf: A lot of the books in this bookshelf are actually homeschooling books.  Since I’ve been blogging,… Read more »

(Some sexual situations, but no sex shown) Summary from Goodreads: Hardships and heartache brought them together…now it will tear them apart.  Layken and Will have proved their love can get them through anything; until someone from Will’s past re-emerges, leaving Layken questioning the very foundation on which their relationship was built. Will is forced to face the ultimate challenge…how to prove his love for a girl who refuses to stop ‘carving pumpkins.’   *NOTE: This review may contain spoilers for Slammed (book #1 in this series).*    Point of Retreat didn’t hit me in the gut the way that Slammed did, but I still loved it.  I was a little nervous to read this book because I thought that Slammed ended so perfectly, I almost didn’t want to read another… Read more »

5 Star Review – You Are Mine by Janeal Falor

5 Star Review – You Are Mine by Janeal Falor

Reviews 2 ★★★★★

I won a copy of You Are Mine in a giveaway and was really excited to read it!  SO glad I did! This is an intense book that will make you want to scream in frustration and horror at some points (in a good way) and will delight you in others.  I absolutely LOVED it! The story follows Serena, a 17-year-old girl who has just come of age – the age at which she can be sold to a warlock as a breeding machine and slave. Serena lives in a society where women are nothing more than property – completely controlled by their overbearing and often abusive warlock husbands. She doesn’t dare dream of happiness – she merely hopes to be sold to a lesser evil than her father. But when her ownership is won by an Envadi barbarian, Serena fears that things will be much worse for her than she ever… Read more »

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights the upcoming releases that we’re most looking forward to.  Here are my picks – books that are coming out soon! This book has gotten rave reviews (some people have said it’s the best book they’ve read all year!).  I requested it from Edelwieiss and am crossing my fingers that I won’t have to wait until January to read it! Top Ten Tuesday (Required Reading) & Teaser Tuesday (Beautifully Broken by Sherry Soule)

Top Ten Tuesday (Required Reading) & Teaser Tuesday (Beautifully Broken by Sherry Soule)

Teaser Tuesday, Top Ten Tuesday 0

Today’s Top Ten Tuesday is: Top Ten Books That Should be Required Reading I started out taking this list semi-seriously (semi is the key word here) and then moved on to just plain silly: You Are Mine by Janeal Falor – I just read this book (review is coming soon) and I think that students could actually get a lot out of reading it!  It would teach about gender discrimination and xenophobia and would spark great discussions about how society’s norms dictate what we say and do. The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan – This one might be for the younger ones, but I’ll bet there are teachers who actually use it to help get kids interested in mythology. Storm by Brigid Kemmerer – This book teaches a lot about bullying and touches on teen sexual assault. Girls and guys alike should take the messages in this book and apply them to life.  Maybe they could read this in a… Read more »

September Random Read – Cold Steel (The Spiritwalker Trilogy #3) by Kate Elliott

September Random Read – Cold Steel (The Spiritwalker Trilogy #3) by Kate Elliott

Random Reads 2

It’s time for my September Random Read (a fun meme hosted by I’m Loving Books). The idea is to pick one random book out of your Goodreads To-Read list (using Random.org) to read within the month.  As I mention every month, I am in love with this meme!  This is such a great way to make sure that I actually read some of those books that have been in my TBR list for eons.  Last month’s random pick was Inside Out by Maria V. Snyder – I was on top of things last month and managed to read my August Random Read relatively early in the month!  I really enjoyed the book! (Click on the link to read my review.) Yay, Random.org! And this month’s winner is… #171 – Cold Steel by Kate ElliottSynopsis:Trouble, treachery, and magic just won’t stop plaguing Cat Barahal. The Master of the Wild Hunt has stolen her husband Andevai. The ruler of the Taino… Read more »
