A Spoiler-Filled Discussion of Two Dark Reigns

Spoiler-Filled Discussion 32

NOTE: In case you missed the title of this post, BE WARNED NOW THAT IT WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS! If you want my non-spoilery thoughts on this book, check out my review instead. (There’s also a giveaway!) Or, if you haven’t read this one yet, then feel free to check out my Spoiler-Filled Discussions of Three Dark Crowns, of One Dark Throne and of “The Young Queens” and “The Oracle Queen.” I just finished book three of this series, and there were some big surprises! Of course, we still haven’t gotten all of our questions answered (there’s one more book to go!), but we did learn a lot in this installment. So, let’s dive right in… Daphne/Illiana These characters weren’t really part of the story before, but they drive the main plotline of this book, so I’m starting with them. My theories: Right at the beginning, when we see the birth of the Blue… Read more »

A Spoiler-Filled Discussion of The Young Queens and The Oracle Queen (AKA Queens of Fennbirn)

Spoiler-Filled Discussion 7

NOTE: In case you missed the title of this post, BE WARNED NOW THAT IT WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS! If you want my non-spoilery thoughts on the books in this series, check out my reviews instead! Or, if you’ve only read the first two books, then feel free to check out my Spoiler-Filled Discussions of Three Dark Crowns and One Dark Throne! (And then immediately read the novellas and come back here!) So, my review of Two Dark Reigns is coming TOMORROW (I’m excited, okay?), and I thought I should do a little talking about the two novellas in Queens of Fennbirn before I jump into book three. I’ll talk about what we learned in “The Young Queens” and “The Oracle Queen” and my predictions about what these revelations might mean for the overarching story of the series. In this novella, we get to see details of the queens’ (and Jules’s) lives when they… Read more »

A Wrinkle in Time: A Spoiler-Filled Comparison of Book Vs. Movie

A Wrinkle in Time: A Spoiler-Filled Comparison of Book Vs. Movie

Spoiler-Filled Discussion 19

First of all, I know I mentioned this in the title of the post, but I want to reiterate it here. This post is going to contain spoilers for both the movie and the book. So, don’t keep reading unless you’ve read/seen A Wrinkle in Time (or don’t mind being spoiled)! My kids, my mom and I went to go see A Wrinkle in Time last week, and we spent the entire drive home debating the merits of the book versus the movie. Only two of us had actually read the book (my daughter Danielle and I read it in the language arts class I teach at our homeschool co-op), so it was interesting to compare notes. What Did We Think? We pretty much all agreed that the movie had fantastic special effects, but it was sort of meh as far as the plot went. Not bad, but not spectacular… Read more »

Or, if you’ve only read the first book, then feel free to check out my Spoiler-Filled Discussion of Three Dark Crowns! (And then immediately read One Dark Throne and come back here!) I just finished book two of this series, and it was just as good as I was hoping it would be! We may not have gotten all of our questions answered (of course—there are still two more books!), but we did learn a lot in this installment. And there was a lot of excitement! So, let’s dive right in… I’m going to go through some of the predictions that we all had after reading the first book and see how many of them were correct, and I’ll also add in some… Read more »

NOTE: In case you missed the title of this post, BE WARNED NOW THAT IT WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS! If you want my non-spoilery thoughts on this book, check out my review instead! Only read this post if you have already read the book and don’t mind reading some of my guesses about what might still happen in future books – or if you’re one of those crazy readers who likes to be spoiled. I won’t judge.  🙂 One other note: If you’ve already read the other books in this series as well, once you’re done reading this post, head over to my spoiler-filled discussions of One Dark Throne, “The Young Queen” and “The Oracle Queen” and Two Dark Reigns and give me your thoughts! Now onto the good stuff… I just finished reading Three Dark Crowns last night (I’m writing this at the beginning of August), and I spent the whole night laying there, unable… Read more »

A Spoiler-Filled Discussion of Me Before You: Book and Movie

A Spoiler-Filled Discussion of Me Before You: Book and Movie

Let's Discuss, Spoiler-Filled Discussion 18

Obviously, you should not be reading this right now if you haven’t EITHER read the book OR watched the movie (and don’t want to be spoiled). I already posted a review of the book with no spoilers, but I really wanted to talk about the ending and how the book and the movie handled Will’s issues due to his disability differently (which made me like the movie less than the book). Before I read the book, I knew that Will was going to end up ending his life. I’d read a review that said they were surprised he “went through with it.” (Really? That’s a spoiler, people! You need to mark it as such! Just because you don’t say what he went through with – it’s pretty obvious what you’re talking about in a book like this.) And the whole book, I was really torn about how I felt about that. After… Read more »
