Sunday Post & Giveaways Galore 12/31/17

Sunday Post 24

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead. This past week on FYFA (and in my life): Who’s ready for the New Year? I don’t know if I am, but I’m going to pretend.  🙂 Sorry if I’ve been more negative on the blog lately. Things have been stressful in our personal lives (and in our country) and it’s hard not to let that bleed over into what I do here. But I’ve always been an optimist, and I do truly believe that things will work out. Maybe not the way we planned or the way we thought they would, but in the end, we might be stronger for it. That’s my wish (and my prayer)… Read more »

Top 10 of 2017: The Best of 2017!!

Top 10 of 2017: The Best of 2017!!

Let's Discuss, Top Ten Tuesday 36

I’m participating in the Top 10 of 2017 Event, which is being hosted over at Kimberlyfaye Reads. Each day has a different top ten list associated with it (you can see the list in the image above). You can choose to complete some or all of the lists. Feel free to join in at any time! FAVORITE BOOKS I READ IN 2017 I cheated and split this into two categories (and it was still hard to pick just 10 in each, especially in the fantasy category since I read so many of them!) CONTEMPORARY: Love, Hate & Other Filters by Samira Ahmed I actually haven’t even reviewed this one yet, and it isn’t published until January, but I feel like if I leave it off the list, it will never get the recognition it deserves (by next year’s list, it will have been a very long time since I read the book)…. Top 10 of 2017: Cover Love

Let's Discuss, Top Ten Tuesday 26

I’m participating in the Top 10 of 2017 Event, which is being hosted over at Kimberlyfaye Reads. Each day has a different top ten list associated with it (you can see the list in the image above). You can choose to complete some or all of the lists (I’m not sure yet if I’ll be doing them all). Feel free to join in at any time! TOP TEN COVERS OF 2017 I’m pretty sure all of these were actually 2017 releases. I actually forgot to look at that at all when I was putting this together, so it’s just lucky that all the prettiest ones were new releases!   What were your favorite covers of 2017? I want to know!

2018 Reading Challenge Sign-Ups and Wrap-Up of My 2017 Challenges

2018 Reading Challenge Sign-Ups and Wrap-Up of My 2017 Challenges

Challenges 17

I decided to combine my sign-ups for my 2018 challenges with my wrap-up for 2017. Kind of fun to see these side-by-side and analyze last year while looking forward to the year ahead! My 2018 Reading/Blogging Challenges: Goal: 31-40 Discussions (Terrifically Talkative)  Of course I’m participating in this challenge since I’m hosting it! The goal of this challenge is to post book-related discussions (or getting to know you type discussions work too.) This challenge is one of my favorite aspects of blogging, and I’m excited to be continuing it! I did reduce my goal a bit for next year, since I didn’t meet the goal last year and I plan to be a busy bee in 2018. HOST/SIGN-UP LINK – Feed Your Fiction Addiction & It Starts at Midnight Goal: 365 Blogs Commented On This is going to be really tough, but I want to try the Commenting 365 Challenge this year. My… Read more »

Top 10 of 2017: Best Boys in Books

Top 10 of 2017: Best Boys in Books

Let's Discuss, Top Ten Tuesday 22

I decided to participate in the Top 10 of 2017 Event, which is being hosted over at Kimberlyfaye Reads. Each day has a different top ten list associated with it (you can see the list in the image above). You can choose to complete some or all of the lists (I’m not sure yet if I’ll be doing them all). Feel free to join in at any time! TOP TEN MALE CHARACTERS I READ IN 2017 I switched this topic up a bit. Instead of specifically listing best book boyfriends, I decided just to list my favorite boys in books (of course, those lists often overlap, but not always). Just like with yesterday’s list, I’m using books that I read in 2017, not necessarily books that were published in 2017. 1. Broody McHottiepants from Brooding YA Hero: Becoming a Main Character (Almost) as Awesome as Me It should be quite obvious why… Read more »

2017 End of Year Wrap-Up Round-Up Link-Up

Monthly Wrap-Up Round-Up 16

This month’s wrap-up round-up is a little different because we’re at the end of the year. You can feel free to post December wrap-up posts or any and all 2017 year-end wrap-up posts! (That includes Top 10 of 2017 posts, goal posts, challenge wrap-up posts—basically anything that sums up your year. Feel free to link up as many as you want.) I absolutely love all the year-end wrap-up posts and I can’t wait to see yours!! The November giveaway ends in a few days, so you still have time to enter! For October, the winner was Sam D, and we’re reading TheColdest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black. Watch for that dual review coming sometime in early January. This is the link-up for our December and year-end wrap-up posts. If you don’t already know about the Monthly Wrap-Up Round-Up, read the information below: Every month, at the end of the month, I’ll put up a… Read more »

Top 10 of 2017: Favorite Females

Let's Discuss, Top Ten Tuesday 26

I decided to participate in the Top 10 of 2017 Event, which is being hosted over at Kimberlyfaye Reads. Each day has a different top ten list associated with it (you can see the list in the image above). You can choose to complete some or all of the lists (I’m not sure yet if I’ll be doing them all). Feel free to join in at any time! TOP TEN FEMALE CHARACTERS I READ IN 2017 I’m using books that I read in 2017 for this list, not necessarily books that were published in 2017. 1. Iku Kasahara from Library Wars I mean, she’s fighting for life, liberty and the pursuit of reading. What else could you possibly want? 2. Meg from Etched in Bone Meg is one of my all-time favorite characters, and the latest book is no exception. She’s got a great balance of strength and vulnerability. And… Read more »

Top 10 of 2017: New-to-Me Authors

Let's Discuss, Top Ten Tuesday 48

I decided last minute to participate in the Top 10 of 2017 Event, which is being hosted over at Kimberlyfaye Reads. Each day has a different top ten list associated with it (you can see the list in the image above). You can choose to complete some or all of the lists (I’m not sure yet if I’ll be doing them all). Feel free to join in at any time! TOP TEN NEW-TO-ME AUTHORS 1. Rae Carson I jumped into the Gold Seer Trilogy two years late. Now I just need to read that final book! 2. Jason Reynolds I read two books by Jason Reynolds this year (both in verse) and really enjoyed both of them. I was introduced to him with Long Way Down, which was a HUGE favorite for me! 3. Becky Albertalli I finally joined the rest of the world and read Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens… Read more »

Bookish Naughty or Nice Tag

Bookish Naughty or Nice Tag

Let's Discuss, Tags 22

I wasn’t planning on posting today (my Sunday Post actually went up yesterday for just that reason), but then I found this fun tag over at A Dance with Books and just had to jump in! It was originally created over at A Page of Jenniely as part of Blogmas. She asked us some tough book blogger questions that we need to answer to find out if we’re on the Naughty List or the Nice List this Christmas!   Received an ARC and Didn’t Review It Oh, wow. Not a good start. Yes, unfortunately I have a good number of ARCs I haven’t read yet. I still plan to read most of them, but keeping up sometimes feels impossible. Have Less than 60% Feedback Rating on Netgalley Ahhh. Much better. Nope, I’m happy to say my NetGalley score is sitting pretty at 87% (and I have a book that I’ve read off of… Read more »

Sunday (Saturday) Post & Giveaways Galore – 12/23/17

Sunday Post 26

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead. This past week on FYFA (and in my life): First off, Merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate (and happy holidays to those of you who celebrate other things this time of year)! I decided that since tomorrow is Christmas Eve, I’d put up my Sunday Post a day early this week. That way it’s done and out of mind so I can just enjoy the holiday. Unfortunately, I spent most of this week sick with a sore throat, stuffy nose and general miserableness. I didn’t end up getting much blogging in (only two posts, one of which was already half written because I’d been writing reviews… Read more »
