War of Storms by Erica Cameron: Excerpt & Giveaway

Giveaways (Ended) 6

Welcome to my spot on the tour for War of Storms by Erica Cameron, the third and final book in The Ryogen Chronicles. This series is action-packed fantasy that showcases diversity in ways you probably haven’t seen before (especially when it comes to gender), and for that alone it deserves all the praise. If you enjoy fantasy with epic battles and unique magic systems, this series is for you! Excerpt: War of Storms by Erica Cameron “I also saw Sanii and Yorri moments after their bond.” His quiet words take a few seconds to land. When they do, they hit like a boulder. I’d forgotten that. How had I forgotten? Tessen was the one who told me about the bond, and when he did, he admitted that he’d known since the day it happened. “Your brother always felt like he had to chase everyone else’s progress, and it made him wary. He was on guard with… Read more »

Island of Exiles and Sea of Strangers by Erica Cameron: Review & Giveaway

Island of Exiles and Sea of Strangers by Erica Cameron: Review & Giveaway

Giveaways (Ended), Reviews 4

Today I’m featuring the first two books in Erica Cameron’s Ryogan Chronicles, a fantasy adventure series that pushes the envelope in many ways. This first book in the series throws us into a strange and deadly desert world where every day is a fight for survival.  What Fed My Addiction: Utterly unique. I’ve never read anything like this series, and the world that Cameron has created is beyond anything I could possibly imagine. Like, seriously, how does she come up with all of it? It’s unmistakably brilliant. Diversity. Traditional gender roles are simply not a thing in this book. In fact, the society in the fantasy world features three completely accepted genders. In addition to that, sexuality and romantic relationships seem to be relatively fluid for the people in this society as well (and some people are asexual). This is all accepted without comment, which I loved. Family bonds. The society… Read more »

Assassins: Discord by Erica Cameron – Review, Author Playlist & Giveaway

Assassins: Discord by Erica Cameron – Review, Author Playlist & Giveaway

Author Interview, Giveaways (Ended), Reviews 9 ★★★½

Click here to Purchase the book at Riptide Assassins: Discord follows Kindra, a teenage girl who’s been raised as an assassin. Yeah, I know this sounds a tad bit far-fetched, but I was able to suspend disbelief for the most part—I mean, it’s not that much stranger than crime families who raise their kids to be in the “business,” right? If mom and dad are both assassins, it seems logical that they’d train up the kids to be a part of the action. Kindra has learned never to question the job, but when things go wrong with her family’s latest hit, she can’t help but wonder why all the details don’t seem to add up. And one question leads to another until Kindra is finding cracks everywhere in the foundation of her life. Once she starts looking too closely, she may not be able to go back to blissful ignorance. What Fed My… Read more »

Top Ten Things I Loved About RT 2015

Top Ten Things I Loved About RT 2015

Book Events, RT, Top Ten Tuesday 33

Today’s Top Ten Tuesday is a freebie, so I decided I’d combine it with my update on RT 2015! Top Ten Things I Loved About RT 2015 (Clockwise, from left to right – Colleen Hoover, Sara Raasch, IW Gregorio, Brigid Kemmerer, Kimberly Derting, Liz Czukas  – AKA Ellie Cahill, Jennifer Lynn Armentrout, Ann Aguirre) Okay, I know I’ve been silent on the blog a lot this past week, but RT was WAY more intense and all-consuming than I expected. In all the best ways, though!! This conference was AMAZING in so many ways – it is so much more personal than BEA, and there’s A LOT more more interaction with the authors. That’s not to say that I didn’t love BEA, and I’m definitely going to be heading to that next year, but I would highly recommend RT if you’re looking for something different. Next year it’s in Vegas! 1. My Roommate If it weren’t for RT,… Read more »
