Bite-Sized Reviews of Listen to Your Heart, Warcross & Wildcard, Girls Like Us

Reviews 20 ★★★★

I’ve got four audiobook reviews for you today: a YA contemp, a YA science fiction duology and a non-fiction(!). I hope these bite-sized reviews will be enough to feed your fiction addiction! This book is quintessential Kasie West. A sweet YA romance that sweeps you up and carries you away. The book prominently features a strong family unit (a whole extended family of people who actually care about each other—hard to believe, right?), a well-earned and slow-burning romance, and a friendship that is strong enough to outlast any boy troubles. When everything (inevitably) blows up in Kate’s face at the climax of the book, people in her life are understandably hurt, but none of her relationships are destroyed by it—but it doesn’t feel like the consequences get glossed over; instead, we see how the strength of those relationships has been built up over time and how they can weather a few… Read more »

Bite-Sized Reviews Audiobook Edition: Midnight Jewel, Daughter of Smoke and Bone Trilogy, and Of Beast and Beauty

Coyer, Reviews 24

I’ve got bite-sized reviews of some of the audiobooks I’ve been listening to lately. I truly love my library (or, technically, most of these came from my mom’s library). If you have access to Axis 360, I highly recommend you check it out—they have a fantastic selection of audiobooks! I hope these bite-sized reviews will be enough to feed your fiction addiction! One thing to know going into this book is that it takes place concurrently with the events in The Glittering Court, but it’s told from the perspective of Mira as opposed to Adelaide. This means that some of the story overlaps. But, if you read book one, you remember that there were a lot of mysteries surrounding both Mira and Tamsin. This book fills in those holes for Mira and we find out where she was disappearing to all the time—among other secrets. I really enjoyed the spy aspects of the book… Read more »

Hex Hall Series by Rachel Hawkins – Audiobook Series Review

Hex Hall Series by Rachel Hawkins – Audiobook Series Review

Reviews 11 ★★★★½

I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect with this series. Honestly, I saw that the library had the audiobook series, and I thought, “Hey, why not?” Turns out, I ended up enjoying this series much more than I expected to! What Fed My Addiction: A very snarky MC. I’ve always been a fan of snarky teenage MCs. As a mom, I should probably be irritated with Sophie’s constant sarcastic remarks, but nope – I enjoyed it the whole way through the series. Sophie handles difficult situations with snarky humor, so instead of getting overly emotional or angsty when things go wrong (which they do throughout the series!) she just cracks sarcastic jokes – I can relate!! I never got tired of Sophie’s voice, and while she definitely grew throughout the series, she never lost her “Sophieness” – which I appreciated. The secondary characters! There were lots of secondary characters in this series… Read more »
