Well, it’s Valentine’s Day and love is in the air! Or at least it should be. If you need a little more love in your life (and don’t we all?), then you’ve come to the right place. I may not be able to fix you up with Mr. Right, but I can get you together with a few classic love stories that will brighten your day considerably.
When Macmillan contacted me to see if I’d like to check out their Collector’s Library, I thought, “Sure, why not? I’d love to add a few more classics to my collection.” But I had no idea how much I would LOVE these books! Seriously, when I opened the box, I squealed with joy and my family was laughing at my excitement.
The books are exquisite, with gold leafed edges and ribbon bookmarks, but they’re also adorable because they’re so small. I took a picture with my mug just so you could get a good sense of the size. (For some reason, small things make me happy.) And these books are just perfect—they look fantastic in my bookcase!
Macmillan was generous enough to send me a wonderful array of their classic love stories: Wuthering Heights, Mansfield Park, Jane Eyre, North and South, The Phantom of the Opera, Emma, and The Importance of Being Earnest and Other Plays. (I played Cecily in The Importance of Being Earnest when I was young, and it’s one of my absolute favorite plays!)
I’m jumping into Wuthering Heights first. The printing in these books is small but still easily readable, and the pages seem delicate, but they actually feel sturdy. Many of the books have some simple black and white illustrations, which is a nice touch.
This is one of those times that I really wish I was a better photographer so I could do the books justice. But you’ll just have to see for yourself how pretty they are. Enter the giveaway to earn the chance to win a copy of Emma, Jane Eyre, and Wuthering Heights!
Ooh you’re right, those do look so pretty! I love the gold leaf and the ribbon bookmarks!
Yes, those details are perfect for these classics.
These look like a much prettier version of the miniature B&N classics they used to carry! And what a pleasant surprise that Phantom of the Opera is included in the title selection 🙂
They have LOTS more to choose from on the website as well—these are just some of the romance books. I really wish I took better pictures so I could do them justice!
They are so pretty! I need them so I can read them. I have never read any of those books. Thanks for the chance to win them!
You’re welcome! I was WAY more excited when I got these books than I thought I’d be. They’re super cute!!
These are so pretty!!!! I don’t read a lot of classics and only do for school, but I’ve been wanting to read The Importance of Being Ernest since we did a quick play about it in school.
The Importance of Being Earnest is such a fun play! I highly recommend it!!
These are so pretty! I love it when books match.
Yes—they look so pretty together!
Small things make me happy too, and I love books with fun edges and ribbon bookmarks. Too cute! I LOVE The Importance of Being Earnest. 🙂

They’re adorable and classy at the same time—it’s quite a combination! 🙂 The Importance of Being Earnest will always be one of my favorite plays and one of my fondest acting memories.
These are gorgeous books. I like the bookmark ribbons and the gold foil edges. This collection would fit perfectly with the one I have saved from my childhood that has Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and National Velvet included.
I have some sets from when I was younger too. Love them!
“Don’t you love them?” I love the sophisticated look of these books!
I agree!
I do love them! I want every one! Thanks for the chance.
You’re welcome! Good luck!
::Sees that Nicole cannot find me love, leaves blog:: Heh, kidding, kidding. These are really pretty! I LOOOOOVE the endpages, I am glad you showed them! And obviously the GOLD. I cannot tell you how badly I want to enter this, but also, I am trying to be good and not obtain books that I absolutely MUST read. But… they’re so pretty. OMG. You won one of my giveaways (Thunderhead!) and I STILL haven’t emailed you because I am a failure. So please hold while I do that. (Not really, I’m just gonna leave now, but I love your pictures, this is a great idea for Valentine’s Day!)
I’m certainly not known for my matchmaking talents. And I haven’t had to date since I was eighteen, so I’m probably just a little out of touch with the modern dating scene. 🙂
Those copies are stunning! I actually cannot believe how pretty they are. Those are the kind of books you’d have pride of place on your shelves.
So very true!
These books makes me so jealous. But I am glad they are safe in good hands. I grew up reading these classics and they are nostalgic.
They’re so lovely!
These books are gorgeous! (Lovely photos of the books too!) I’d love to add these to my library.
Good luck with the giveaway!!
Thank you! I’m crossing my fingers…:P
🙂
I really like the gold touches and how there is a theme so the collection looks like a set! ♥️ Such a fun giveaway!
They look fabulous together for sure!
Oh wow, those books are absolutely gorgeous! The only gold leafed book I’ve ever seen in person is a Peter Rabbit book my dad got for me when he had to go to Europe and I was 8. 🙂 Those look soooooo pretty! I’m so glad you got such an amazing package and here’s hoping you absolutely love re-reading them!!
I agree that they’re SO pretty!
ghfgh oh this is so beautiful! I would love to see these on my Daughter’s bookcase! Petite like her 🙂

Couldn’t agree with you more!
Oh wow, I absolutely love the beautiful classic editions! I rarely buy such beautiful editions -I don’t even know why not, but I love the gold here 🙂
I know—I have a hard time splurging on something like this, but it’s so worth it for collectors.
I love the goldleaf and ribbon bookmarks! It looks like re-reads are needed!
