Welcome to the August monthly link-up for the 2018 Book Blog Discussion Challenge hosted by Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction and Shannon @ It Starts at Midnight!
We are loving everyone’s discussions! It’s awesome that you were all able to keep them coming even in the slower summer months!! You guys are amazing!
The winner of our May discussion challenge link-up was Sam @ We Live and Breathe Books! She chose The Anatomical Shape of a Heart by Jenn Bennett. That’s a personal favorite of mine, so I’m excited for her. Hope you enjoy, Sam!
If you don’t know what this challenge is all about or haven’t signed up yet (but want to), head on over to the challenge sign-up page to learn more!
Even if you’d rather not join, we hope you’ll stop by occasionally to check out the MANY discussion posts that are being linked up here – there are lots of great discussions going on!
We’re no longer giving discussion ideas each month (because not that many people seemed to need them), BUT you can check out our list of the topics we’ve suggested over the past two years if you need some inspiration. There are LOTS of ideas there, and I’m sure you’ll find one you love!
Looking for even more inspiration, or want to see some discussion posts as an example? Check out the discussion posts on Feed Your Fiction Addiction or It Starts at Midnight!
Featured Blogger
This month’s featured blogger (as chosen by Shannon & Random.org) is Jo @ Once Upon a Bookcase. Jo has posted many fantastic discussions!
Here are just a few of Shannon’s favorites:
- Mental Illness in YA Month Discussion: What Do We Want to See More & Less of in YA Novels Featuring Mental Illness?
- Side note from Nicole: I was literally just over on Jo’s blog reading these Mental Illness in YA posts and thinking they were amazing, and then I checked my email and saw that Shannon chose her for this month. It couldn’t be more perfect! I highly recommend you check these posts out because I’m loving them!
- Book Blog Pet Peeves
(Commenting on any of Jo’s discussions will give you extra entries in the giveaway, by the way—if you already commented on them when they went up originally, that counts too!)
Since August seems to be a big vacation/trip month, let’s do any book that involves a trip or holiday! Doesn’t have to be the main theme or anything, either- as always, pretty much anything goes because I am lenient 😀
As always, the giveaway is open to anyone that The Book Depository ships to (or, if TBD doesn’t ship to you, you could choose an ebook!) up to $17 value.
a Rafflecopter giveaway
Make sure to link up all of your August discussion posts here. This linky and the August giveaway will be open until September 7th (to give people a little extra time to link up – just in case you’re disorganized like we are). If, by some chance, you forget to link up a post this month, you can add it to next month’s linky (but no duplicates, please).
Go forth and discuss!

I’m a little ashamed of myself for not getting my discussion posts done this summer like I’d planned. Maybe this month? We’ll see.
Sometimes that’s the way life goes. The best-laid plans just … don’t work.
I need to get back to doing more discussions. Summers are difficult though – I don’t get much of anything done! LOL I hope to get back to doing more discussion posts this fall. 🙂
I know. It can be so hard to motivate yourself in the summer when there are LOTS of other things to distract you!
Just had my 2nd granddaughter of the summer arrive a week earlier than expected – adorable and welcomed! Definitely throwing off my blogging , reading , life !
Ahh, the joys of new babies …
Thank you for stopping by and taking time to respond! Always a delight to find your comments – now you’ll know why my response is a bit slow?
Oh, trust me, I always understand about slow responses. Lately I’ve really been struggling to keep up with everything. But I figure the best we can do is our best, right? I’m glad you have a new grandbaby to love on!!
Oh, I’m just coming across this! I love this idea. I will most definitely be checking things out and some of the linked posts, too. ?✨
It worked out great for me. I’m glad I did it!
Finally posted my seventh discussion of the year. I’m a little behind schedule but I may still make my goal if I get my butt in gear, lol. I didn’t see the linky, so here’s my August post. Romance Tropes That Work for Me
You can disregard my comment about the missing linky. It actually appeared as soon as I submitted my comment. Weird, haha.
Weird! Glad it showed up. (I won’t put it in the September linky then.)
Sorry you couldn’t find the linky. Not sure what was up with that, but I’ll add this post to the September link-up to make sure people see it!
I have just noticed I’m the featured blogger for this month! Thank you so much, that’s so awesome! Thank you for the lovely things you said about Mental Illness in YA Month! 🙂 I appreciate it!
Glad to help spread the word!
