After surviving a disastrous battle at prom, Alyssa has embraced her madness and gained perspective. She's determined to rescue her two worlds and the people and netherlings she loves. Even if it means challenging Queen Red to a final battle of wills and wiles . . . and even if the only way to Wonderland, now that the rabbit hole is closed, is through the looking-glass world--a parallel dimension filled with mutated and violent netherling outcasts. In the final installment of the wildly popular Splintered trilogy, Alyssa and her dad journey into the heart of magic and mayhem in search of her mom and to set right all that's gone wrong. Together with Jeb and Morpheus, they must salvage Wonderland from the decay and destruction that has ensnared it. But if they succeed and come out alive, can everyone truly have their happily ever after?
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights the upcoming releases that we’re most looking forward to.
This week, I chose to spotlight Ensnared by A.G. Howard, which is being released soon! I just recently finished reading Unhinged, which ended with a bang, so I’m excited to read the final installment in this trilogy! I got a preview of the book from NetGalley (the first three chapters – I actually didn’t realize it was a preview when I requested it, but that was my mistake – it clearly stated it in the description), so I thought I’d talk a bit about my first impressions!
Ensnared picks up one month after Unhinged ended. Alyssa finds herself in the same asylum that her mother spent so many years in. And she actually is just a touch … mad. Her mother and Jeb are both missing and, while she’s not exactly a suspect, people are hoping she’ll gain enough sanity to give them some clues as to their whereabouts. But Alyssa knows that the only way to get them back is to restore her dad’s memories and follow him into Wonderland – and she devises a plan to do just that. She also picks up some other memories along the way that will help her defeat Red.
The first three chapters of this final book are definitely exciting. We jump right into the action, and Alyssa’s tinge of madness really makes things interesting! She’s not being cautious anymore, that’s for sure. I can’t wait to see what will happen in the rest of this book!!
I can’t wait to get my hands not his book! And I’m so glad you enjoyed the first few chapters!! That makes me even more excited to read it.
Happy Holidays.
Yes! I can’t wait to read the rest either!
GREAT pick this week! 😉
Here’s my WoW
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
Thanks, Jessica – Now I need to go check out your review of Moth in the Mirror!
Oh gosh I loved the first three chapters and I can not wait for this to be out! I am so excited for it. Only a couple of weeks now!
I know – so good, right?
I never got to read Unhinged, unfortunately. I still have plans on continuing this series, though. I keep hoping Morpheus will not annoy me as much. Lol.
I’m not a huge Morpheus fan either – SO many people love him and want Alyssa to end up with him, but I don’t quite get the draw. I’m definitely Team Jeb!
The guy on the cover is so pretty haha thank you for sharing <3 The premise sounds quite promising.
I know – these covers are AMAZING!! Best ever!
I need to start this series ASAP! I shied away because I was afraid of retellings, but now I am okay with them, and I need to get on board! This sounds so, so good. Hope you love it when you get to finish it 🙂
This is definitely a fun retelling – I’m a fan of them, though!
Love the cover! I still have to read Unhinged but I really liked Splintered.
I know – these covers are AMAZING! I’m kicking myself because I had a poster of this one from BEA, but I didn’t keep it nice enough on the trip home. I think I ended up getting rid of the poster and now I totally wish I had it. 🙁
The cover looks amazing – happy holidays!
