The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.

What’s been happening since my last Sunday Post:

I attended LITapalooza at Anderson’s Bookshop. This event was fantastic, but I was terrible about taking pictures, so I have no photographic evidence. LOL!

Work changes (hopefully). In my last post, I mentioned that work has been pretty stressful lately. Well, it’s looking like I’m going to transfer to the store my old manager went to. I just haven’t been happy lately–the atmosphere at our store is very different. It’s not a completely done deal, but I’m hoping it will happen (and soon). I just want to go back to completely loving my job.

Book News:

The Song of Orphan’s Garden is available to request on Edelweiss! I assume it will also be available on NetGalley soon too, but I haven’t seen it there yet. I’ll let you know! The fact that people can really read it now is both exciting and terrifying, not gonna lie.

UPDATE: Sam let me know that it’s now on NetGalley too! Click the link to find it!

I also got blurbs from three authors I absolutely adore and deeply respect. (I may or may not have shed a few tears when I got these.) Want to know what people are saying about TSoOG? Check it out:

“A lyrical fantasy reminiscent of C.S. LewisThe Song of Orphan’s Garden takes readers on a riveting journey to explore the perils of preconceptions and the power of friendship. one-of-a-kind verse novel sure to entrance readers of all ages.” ―Megan E. Freeman, New York Times-bestselling author of Alone

“In skillfully crafted verseThe Song of Orphan’s Garden sings to the reader in beautiful harmony about unexpected courage, impossible friendships, and the magic inside us all … A beautifully written, lyrical adventure for the soul.” ―Chris Baron, author of Sydney Taylor Notable Book The Magical Imperfect

“This bold fantasy novel-in-verse feels both classic and entirely fresh, telling rich and compelling story of two very different kids who find community and healing in unsuspected places. Inventive, exciting, and simply lovely.” ―Anne Ursu, author of Not Quite a Ghost

What I Read:

  • I read The Golden Hour by Niki Smith at work (thanks to my coworker who brings us graphic novels to read from the library). I was excited to read this one because it’s one of the nominees for the Rebecca Caudill award (Illinois’ state award). It’s incredible!
  • I listened to The Tenth Mistake of Hank Hooperman by Gennifer Choldenko after I read a rave #IMWAYR review. Absolutely agree with that incredible review!!
  • I also listened to Ruthless Vows by Rebecca Ross, a fantastic finale for the duology!
  • Finally, I did a re-listen of The Gray by Chris Baron. This moving contemporary will make kids with anxiety and panic attacks feel seen in ways they probably haven’t before.

Here’s what you may have missed on the blog since my last Sunday Post:

  1. I’m so glad you had fun at LITapalooza! 😀 When I go to events like that, I often forget to take pictures too.

I hope you’re able to get your transfer squared away so you can start loving your job again. There’s nothing worse than a job you hate. Good luck! 😀

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

  2. Those are some awesome blurbs for your book! Anne Ursu! I think once in a while about going back to work at the B&N where I used to work, but so many people are gone that I liked working with, and I am not a fan of how they switched everything around. And I totally get about not wanting to work where you are miserable. I used to love being a librarian. I didn’t have the issues with getting up in the morning like I’m having again, and didn’t hate my job. Between the last year at my last library job and pretty much all the years at my current job, it’s been miserable. Just hoping this year will be better!

  3. Great news on that transfer! Work stress is the worst. I haven’t booked blogged in years and I am finding terms, new lists, and books that I haven’t seen before. I am not sure, for instance what a pre-order campaign is, but I am going to check out your page for that. I hope you have a great week.

    • You probably already figured this out, but a pre-order campaign is when an author (or publisher) offers a special giveaway for people who pre-order the book. I started keeping track of them years ago and eventually made it an official page on the blog so people can get in on those deals!

  4. NICOLE THIS IS SO EXCITING. (The book being on review sites, that is!) And those author comps!?!? I am speechless! That isn’t just “oh cool book” that is like “this is a freaking masterpiece” and I am just so happy for you! (But also, how can whatever I say in one of my goofy reviews compare to THAT?! Eh, you’ll know my goofiness is from the heart, at least 😂)

LITapalooza sounds so fun! I am glad you were able to go! I have not been to a book event in aaaages. I am looking forward to going to ALA in Philly next summer- I can even get an “educator” badge and people won’t give me dirty looks- ohhh and maybe YOU will be there signing your shiny new BOOK and I can be like “yes I know this famous person”.

My fingers are crossed that you get moved to the non-crappy atmosphere place! Honestly, that makes such a difference in just your whole life, so I am really hoping you move! I also really need to read that Rebecca Ross series. You know, in my free time heh.
