I’ve got four bite-sized reviews today. It’s a bit of a mixed-bag—a YA contemp, a YA fantasy, a book of art and poetry, and an NA contemp. I used to try to combine things more logically, but then I had some reviews that I waited forever to write, which didn’t work out so well. Anyway. I hope these bite-sized reviews will be enough to feed your fiction addiction! First off, I want to point out that while this book is set in a fantasy world, there’s no actual magic involved. When the book starts, we learn that Zivah is testing to become a healer, and at first it seems like the potions might have magical properties—but really, they’re basically just medicines. I’ve got three bite-sized reviews today, one for a series. I hope these bite-sized reviews will be enough to feed your fiction addiction! So, I picked up this book on a total whim. I was glancing through Twitter and saw this adorable pic that the author’s daughter had drawn telling people to read her mom’s book. Since I’m a sucker for that sort of thing, I immediately headed over to Goodreads to check it out, and it sounded like the type of book I’d love! I headed over to Edelweiss, downloaded it and immediately started reading! (See, I wasn’t kidding when I said it was a whim.) The book is a thriller of sorts, but it’s also a portrait of abuse. I’ve got three (technically four) bite-sized reviews today, including two for graphic novels I’ve read recently. I just now realized how bleak or horror-filled all of these titles sound, and I suppose that the books are a bit on the bleak side (though Hunted is more of just a regular fantasy—paired with the others, it sounds bleak indeed!). I hope these bite-sized reviews will be enough to feed your fiction addiction! Kate L. Mary has once again managed to pull me into a unique post-apocalyptic world with her newest book. The genre for this book is sort of hard to describe, but I guess I’d call it paranormal or magical realism. The setting feels mostly contemporary but then there’s this obviously fantastical element: the fact that people receive a call to warn them on the day they die. This fact has (rightfully) affected society in many ways, so we get a modern-day world with a twist. What Fed My Addiction: The unique concept. I found the entire concept of receiving a phone call on the day you’re going to die fascinating. How would this affect the way we live our everyday lives? Today I’ve got bite-sized reviews of two awesome fantasy series that I’ve started (they’re not done yet, so it’s actually not my fault this time that I haven’t finished them!). Hope these bite-sized reviews will be enough to feed your fiction addiction! On the surface, this book seems like it might be sort of derivative. It’s not. Well, okay, it sort of is. I mean, just based on the basic description, I feel like I’ve read this book before: Em’s parents were murdered because a power-hungry king is afraid of her people’s abilities, and she wants revenge. She decides to pass herself off as the prince’s bride-to-be (possible since they’ve never actually met), but she falls in love with the prince and starts to doubt her plan to betray him. This book is cute and fun with a bit of a serious topic thrown in. It’s pretty much everything I expect from a Kasie West romance. What Fed My Addiction: Stuck in a library! Come on, this is like a dream come true, right? Who hasn’t dreamed of being locked in a library? Well, okay, maybe this isn’t that normal of a fantasy … but it sounds like a dream to me! I thought it was fun to see how Dax and Autumn made it through an extended weekend in less than ideal conditions. I mean, sure, they had books, but not much else. Okay, so I might be exaggerating a little bit with that title—I’m not actually reviewing all of the rest of the books I read in 2016, but I am reviewing most of them. The only holdouts are a couple of books that I plan to review along with future books in the series and a couple that are releasing next week (which I’ll review then). Oh, and I’m still reading and the month isn’t quite over, so … Anyway, hopefully these bite-sized reviews will be enough to feed your fiction addiction! This was everything I was hoping for in a series finale. Even though the romance was rocky (and I was very scared for Rafe and Lia), it seemed realistic. Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake – 5 Star “That Was Awesome” Review & Giveaway

This book had me hooked from the very start. I was pretty much fascinated by this story of triplets who are all raised as queens – destined to kill each other after they turn sixteen (well, one of them has to kill the other two – the future all balances on which of them succeeds). The Queens: We first meet Katharine, who is supposed to be a poisoner (which, somewhat ironically, actually means that she’s immune to poison), but we find out right away that her gift has failed to show up. She’s been raised under horrible circumstances – basically, her caretakers have been poisoning her her entire life, trying to help her build up some sort of immunity to poison so that she won’t look weak and so that she can still kill her sisters and win the crown. A fun guilty pleasure read with lots of drama and an interesting mystery, The Thousandth Floor had me intrigued from the start! What Fed My Addiction: The Players: Since there were SO many characters and POV’s in this book, I’ll give you a little rundown of the major players. I really enjoyed almost all of them! Avery and Atlas: These two live on the top floor in the penthouse. Even though Avery is obviously the richest girl in the tower, and therefore has the highest social standing, I love that she isn’t a snob. She’s actually one of the warmest characters in the book, and she genuinely seems to care about her friends, whatever floor they live on. Wanderlost by Jen Malone – Review

Loved this coming of age story about a girl who discovers she’s much more adventurous than she imagined herself to be! With a super adorable love interest and a main character who shows incredible character growth throughout the book, I highly recommend this one!! This is the sort of book that’s all sorts of adorable and just has you constantly either swooning or laughing out loud. Remember when I asked if an author’s bio ever made you want to read a book?
