t’s time for my July Random Read (a fun meme hosted by I’m Loving Books). The idea is to pick one random book out of your Goodreads To-Read list (using Random.org) to read within the month.
As I’ve mentioned before, I am in love with this meme! This is such a great way to make sure that you actually read some of those books that have been in your TBR list for eons.
Last month’s random pick was The New Hunger by Isaac Marion, a novella prequel to Warm Bodies. (Click on the link to read my review.) I wasn’t that enthusiastic about reading it at first, but I actually ended up liking it even more than I liked the original book. See, good thing Random.org told me to read it!
This month’s winner is…
#75 – Thorn Queen by Richelle Mead
Actually, this was my second randomly-chosen book. The first was a book that isn’t going to be published until December, so I had to try again!
When I first saw that Thorn Queen was chosen for me this month, I thought, “Hmmm… I don’t think I’ve read the first book in this series.”
But, when I checked it out further, I found that I had, indeed, read it. The first book was called Storm Born, and I honestly don’t remember all that much about it except that it was just ok for me. But, since then I’ve read quite a few books by Richelle Mead that I’ve loved, so I’m definitely willing to give this series another try.
I actually enjoyed the Dark Swan series, although I read it about 2 years ago now…. I hope you are able to give it another go!

I’ve always wanted to check out Richelle Mead but her Academy Series seems to be loved at the beginning and then people say it gets a bit… pointless. Simply for the ’18+’ rated scenes.
Ah I’m sure I’ll check it out one day. 🙂

Squeeeeee! I am in love with this meme too! I scored a nice pick for July. So excited. This pick sounds really interesting too. In the spirit of trying to control my TBR I will wait to see what you think of it before adding it. 🙂

Wow! ALL of you who do this are BRAVE! Anyone out there cheat? I would! LOLOL!!! No, I’d make POSITIVELY SURE the books in my Want To Read pile ARE books I REALLY WANT to read! LOL! I can just imagine myself getting stuck with a book I ‘had’ to mark as wanting to read it, then wanting to kick myself in the butt!
This does sound like FUN! I may have to do this! I can’t start it until this Fall though, bummer! I have WAY too many books I got from NetGalley and a few Blog Tours that I”m overloaded! I have a muscle disease, too, and it has been kicking me in the butt, too, for some unknown reason? So, I have to wait. Can’t wait to join, though!
Oh! I won’t cheat! I PROMISE! I WILL go through my books, though, to make positive they are ALL good ones! LOL!
Thanks for having this!
Oh! I’ve been to your blog before, but didn’t leave a comment. Sorry! I am following you via Bloglovin’! Don’t you LOVE that! I do!!!

Thanks a million!
Can’t wait!

That’s so funny, Lori! Yes, it is a little nerve-wracking. I do have a few books on my TBR list that I’m not 100% sure I still want to read, but for the most part, it’s books I thought I wanted to read at some point!! This is a fun way to get to some books I might have missed out on otherwise!
I’m really backed up on my NetGalley books too (and my review books), but I like the idea of having a random book to read, so I’m going to continue to do this meme for as long as I can!!
I’m following you back via Bloglovin’. Thanks for stopping by!
