I wanted to do something a little different around here, and I was inspired by Epic Reads’ 23 Exquisite Palettes Inspired By Our Favorite YA Book Covers. The cover and palette for An Ember in the Ashes just screamed at me for some reason! At first I thought maybe I’d do a post where you choose outfits to go with the cover, but there are lots of those out there – and I’m not all that excited about looking at fashion (though I did find this gorgeous dress that matches so beautifully it was almost worth doing a post just to feature it!)
So, I wanted to do something a little different, and I thought, what about designing a room with the cover palette? Now, I’m not going to claim this has never been done before (I’m guessing someone else has thought of it), but I haven’t seen it – thought it might be a fun twist on the fashion thing. And so, Bookish Backdrops was born!
Here’s my take on An Ember in the Ashes bedroom:

LOVE Picture – This full-wall artwork from Hautelook would fit the room perfectly.
Bookcase – Of course, every room needs a bookcase! Guess in this one, you’d have to stick with gold books. 🙂
Fire Lantern – When I saw this lantern, I was instantly in love. It truly looks like it’s lit by real fire! Perfect for the book!!
Area Rug – Every room needs an area rug to make it comfy cozy. This one would go beautifully!
Bedroom – This is an example of a finished bedroom that already matches the color palette perfectly!
Wall Art – This DIY gold wall art would be fun and elegant in the room.
Chandelier – Now that’s a chandelier that makes a statement.
Fireplace – Can’t have An Ember In the Ashes room without a fireplace, right? This one uses candles, which might not make enough ashes, but it is pretty!
Pillows – These sumptuous gold and gray pillows would add a pretty finishing touch to the room.
Sitting Area – For a truly fabulous bedroom, you need a cute little sitting area. This one would do very nicely!

Oooh I like this!! First, I love the idea. Second, I want to live in this room! My goodness, this is gorgeous! The lamp! The BOOKCASE! The fireplace! Sign me up!
Now, you MUST do The Wrath and the Dawn, okay? OOOOH and A Thousand Lives. Because those covers are glorious and I want to live in rooms inspired by them!
I just bought The Wrath and the The Dawn yesterday and met the author (who is SUPER sweet!) – I think I just might have to do that one next!!
Brilliant idea — I love all your choices. My favorite is the fire lantern; I want one!
I want that lantern too. I instantly fell in love with it!
Definitely an idea I’ll have to steal! I’ll do one as part of my Blog Ahead posts.
Feel free to do one of your own! I thought this was so much fun!
Oh I like this. The idea is awesome and all of those pictures are gorgeous! Love the color combo!
This cover just screamed out to me and I HAD to use it! Thought it would make a gorgeous room (though too fancy for me to live in). 🙂
