Last week on FYFA (and in my life):
So, last Sunday my whole family ran a 5k, and I’m thrilled to say that I actually managed to run the whole thing. This is a big accomplishment for me, since when I was young I couldn’t even run a full mile (I did have asthma, which made things much tougher for me, but still). Now, I won’t say that I ran fast—there are probably people who could pass me up walking—but my main goal was to just keep going, and I did it!
Then on Monday (which was a holiday here in the US), we got season passes for an amusement park near us. They always have a great deal at the end of the year where you can get passes that work for the rest of the current season and next season. It works out perfectly for us because we like to get passes every other year (so we don’t get bored).
I taught my first co-op classes of the year this past week as well, so the schoolyear is now officially underway for me!

Congrats on the 5k! I’m training for one of those right now. I’ll have to check out some of the diversity discussions going on in the blogosphere. A lot of people seem to be discussing it right now.
Diversity is definitely a big topic. It’s so complex because people have a lot of emotion wrapped up in it.
Way to go with the 5K! And wowza – thanks for all the links to the giveaways. So much going on in the book bloggiverse.
I think this list gets longer and longer each week – I keep running across more things to share! Glad you’ve found some things that caught your eye!
Go, you! Congratulations. I’m trying to make my way to a point where I can run again. So, for now, I’m walking my way through it.
I’m so bummed I didn’t pick up The Forgetting yesterday. It’s been recommended by a few of my book club friends. Definitely going back to the bookstore for it some time this week. 🙂
Have a great week!
Congrats on the 5K. I Can’t even walk a mile without difficulty. You got some great books.
Grace @ Books of Love
Wow! So many things going on this week! This is a cool post. It’s so nice of you to share all these links to other bloggers’ posts and giveaways and things! And thanks so much for sharing my Bullet Journaling for Book Bloggers post!
And congrats on the 5k! I’ve been trying to walk more often and I haven’t even walked 5k in one session, so you should definitely be proud! The amusement park sounds fun, too! My husband and I are taking the kids to Disneyland this fall and I’m so excited.
I’ll be sure to check out your review of The Forgetting; it sounds like such a good book!
Congrats on your 5K, I would love to do one, maybe one day.
Have a great week Nicole! Happy Reading! ox
Congrats on the 5k!! Hope you enjoy your new books and have a great week!
Congratulations! I couldn’t run a full mile as a kid either (I suspect I had asthma since every doctor since I turned 18 has asked me if I do). Now my knees don’t do any helping on that front, either. Congrats on your accomplishment! I hope the year is off to a great start!
Wow, so many fun giveaways- thanks again for sharing mine!
Congrats on running the 5k. I always really struggled running a mile when I was younger. I’m not sure I’ll ever be a runner, but I do want to get more physically fit!
-Lauren
Wow! Well done on the 5 K! There’s no way I could run that far. Although I’ve joined the gym this week and so will hopefully be getting more fit…I still think it’ll be a while before I’m doing any 5Ks though 🙂
Congrats on the 5k! How exciting and I think it’s neat your whole family did it. I’ve never done one of those but it must be a great feeling finishing! I ran in high school but it’s been a few years ha ha. And thanks for the great links as always. I think the Copper gauntlet and The Bronze Key sound good, and that Holly Black/ Cassandra Clare combo- I’m curious to hear how those books are.
Ooh nice! I keep debating about Dunn’s series! Hope you enjoy the new reads!
Here’s my STS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
I really liked the first book in Dunn’s series, so I’m excited about reading the second one!
Wow, congrats on running the 5K! I’ve never run that much in my life lol. I’ve always hated running. And that sounds fun that you went to the amusement park. And you taught your first blogging class! It’s been a big week for you 😀 How did the class go, by the way?
Congratulations on running the whole 5k! That’s such a huge accomplishment!
And I can’t wait to see what you think of The Lying Planet! That sounds fascinating and it’s a standalone. And her other book sounds intriguing too, enjoy!
Wahoo on running the whole 5k. We use to take advantage of those type deals when our kids were living with us. Hope you had a blast riding the rides.
Wow, congrats on the 5K that is AWESOME! Running with asthma is SO not fun, so I give you so much credit! And I love that you get season passes to the amusement park, that sounds like SO much fun! I need to read The Forgetting, and am so excited to see that it is a favorite for you! I actually was going to start it last night, but it was kind of too close in genre to the ebook I am reading so it shall come next! Hope you enjoy the new books, and that school is going well! Thanks so much for linking to #SS too! You have reminded me that I must pick the winners- which is going to take awhile since there are 5, yikes! Have a wonderful week 😀
Congrats on the 5k! I got Remember Yesterday too, can’t wait for it, the first book was so good!
That is awesome about the 5K! I can’t run a whole mile myself. I wish I could. I just walk. I rarely get to the amusement park in my town. At my last school, I would always volunteer to be a sponsor so I could go with the students when the big field trip was to that amusement park. I’ve really got to get ahold of The Forgetting myself. I keep hearing a lot of good things! You can check out my Sunday Post in the link below!
Congrats on the 5K, Nicole! That’s fantastic – and such an accomplishment. The cover of Remember Yesterday is so gorgeous! So many birthdays and blogoversaries this week… I’m excited to go blog hopping and share some love. 🙂 Hope you have a great week!
FYI: I linked to this post as an Example for my Bloggiesta mini-challenge: “Increasing Readership & Engagement with a Wrap-up Post”
Congrats on the 5k!! That’s a huge acheivement. One day I’ll get there too! Thank you for the round up – I love this style of post!
Congratulations on running the 5K! That’s awesome!
