This past week on FYFA (and in my life):
I’ve been working on my new MG manuscript. Slowly but surely. 🙂 I’m finding with verse I can’t get anything close to the number of words written in a sitting as I can when I write prose. But I’m working …
Next week (or, I guess, this week) is my kids’ spring break. We don’t have anything exciting planned, but we’ll have a relaxing week at home.
Here’s what you may have missed on the blog since my last Sunday Post:
Always lots of posts at the end/beginning of the month!
- Bite-Sized Reviews of Geekerella, Peasprout Chen: Future Legend of Skate and Sword, and The Crossover and Rebound
- Operation Frog Effect by Sarah Scheerger: Review & Scheerger’s Top Ten Addictions
- How Much Is Too Much? Sometimes Life Is Stranger Than Fiction. Let’s Discuss.
Book Blogger Birthdays and Blogoversaries:
Here are the birthdays and blogoversaries for this week! I hope you’ll go wish these bloggers well on their special days! Make sure you check out the calendar to see what you might have just missed or what’s coming up. (If you want to be added to the calendar, it’s easy! Just fill out the birthday/blogoversary form.)
- March 24th – The Bookish Libra‘s Blogoversary
- March 26th – Jane @ Janepedia‘s Birthday
Book Haul:
For Review:
I signed up for the blog tour for the Samantha Spinner Books, and Delacorte sent me both books for review (even though I told them I only needed book 1–guess I’ll have an extra book for a giveaway!).
Purchased:
One of my writing groups has been meeting at Barbara’s Bookstore, and I thought it would be a good idea to support the store with a purchase. (Plus, I still have birthday money from my mom that I’ve been slowly spending on books. I must choose wisely!) Since I just recently finished The Lunar Chronicles, I decided it’s time to jump on board with Renegades!
Great Discussions/Goings On Around the Blogosphere:
- Love food? Who doesn’t? Heather over @ Based on a True Story hosts a year-long challenge called Foodies Read. You can link up posts for books that have to do with food (non-fiction or fiction where food is a major part of the plot), and she has a monthly giveaway! Check it out!
- AJ @ Read All the Things tells us 10 Things Authors Get Wrong About High School. I basically wrote a whole post in the comments, so I obviously thought it was an interesting topic!

I swear sometimes the best vacation are staycations. Just nice and relaxing week at home. I am thinking we might do that in the summer and do a day trip or two to a water park. Those are the best.
Excited for your writing! 🙂
Have a great week, Nicole! Happy Reading! xx
Yes, sometimes it’s nice to just sit back and relax.
I hope you like Renegades, I thought it was very entertaining!
I’m looking forward to reading it!!
Enjoy relaxing at home for Spring break and happy reading this week.
Thank you!
Enjoy the Spring break Nicole!!! I wish I had one.
Thank you!
This is a super cool meme! Thanks for linking my post 🙂
You’re welcome!!
Relaxing weeks at home are the best! Going away requires too much planning, packing, driving, etc. Whew!
Enjoy your reading and your week, and here are
MY WEEKLY UPDATES
That is true. There are definite benefits to staying home.
Oh good luck on the writing! I admire anyone who can write in verse. And enjoy your spring break! Sometimes a spring break at home is the best kind!
I love verse. We’ll see how successful I am at it. LOL! (I feel good some days and awful others—but I guess that’s just writing in general.)
Enjoy your staycation and good luck with the writing!
Thank you!
Yay for Spring Break! It seems all the schools around here are on Spring Break on different weeks! It’s insane! Lol!
Hope you enjoy your new reads! I still need to read Renegades! I was initially going to read it back to back with its sequel when it was a duology, but now that it’s a trilogy I find myself thinking I might as well keep to it since I haven’t found time to get it into my queue!
Hope you enjoy the week ahead!
Here’s my STS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
They’re not all on the same schedule here either. In fact, some years my kids haven’t had spring break at the same time, which was sort of annoying.
Good luck with the manuscript, and enjoy the staycation. I love having time off with no obligations. That’s the best.
Yes–no obligations is the key part. 🙂
Good luck with your writing! And I always do staycations now. I have everything I need to keep me happy right at my fingertips. Saves money too. LOL I make myself act like I’m not at home so I really unplug.
Yes, it’s certainly cheaper!
Having a quiet time with the kids at home is always nice.Good luck with your manuscript!
Thank you!
Good luck with the book! I hope your kids have tons of fun on break. Thanks for giving my post a shout out. It was an interesting topic to think about, and the comments have been teaching me how schools around the world operate.
I actually really loved reading all the comments on that post.
Verse is definitely a whole other animal when it comes to writing. It feels like you aren’t writing a lot, when you are! You got it though!
-Lauren
Yes, I keep reminding myself that it’s different. Writing is such a strange experience anyway—one deal you feel great about it and the next you’re not so sure. LOL!
Best of luck with your writing and yay for a relaxing time at home – I hope you’ll have a fantastic family spring break 🙂
Thank you! We had a very relaxing week.
Ah I love a week at home. Enjoy! I have Renegades as a Goodreads giveaway and need to get to it.
Here is my Sunday Post
I won a Goodreads giveaway once years ago, but it was a second book in a series and I didn’t have the first. I never did get around to reading it. Oh boy!
I need a week to do nothing, even though I couldn’t possibly and then complain I’m bored the whole time! It’s a rough cycle.
I can’t wait to read your books, BTW!
Yeah, there’s no winning really. Whether I’m busy or bored, there’s always something to complain about. LOL!
I hope you’ve had a chilled break! The kids don’t get a break here for another week… I can’t wait for a few days off!
It’s nice to relax a bit, right?
Here’s hoping you are having a wonderful time with your kiddos being off from school! I’m looking forward to our spring break! Our isn’t until the middle of April since we just had Ski Week off in February. And happy reading Samantha Spinner, the cover looks absolutely adorable!
Thanks! We had a great week!
