Sunday Post header

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.

This past week on FYFA (and in my life):

  • Tons of yardwork. Lots of you know about how they cut down most of the trees in the preserve behind our house. Well, the area at the back of our yard has been too shady to really grow grass for years and it turned into a big weedy gully that basically blended into the preserve. So we decided to fill it in and we’re planting grass and then wildflowers in the corners. It was a TON of work. We first dug out a huge hill that had been created when they dug out a pool on the lot and used that as fill, then we got 9 cubic yards (two HUGE piles) of topsoil/compost/sand to spread over the top. We spent many hours digging/raking/shoveling.
  • Vaccinations! If you saw my post last week, you know that those of us 18 and over in my family already got vaccinated. After having to reschedule three times (once due to a school conflict and twice because places had to cancel), we finally got an appointment for my two 16-year-olds and they got their first doses of the vaccine. Because Pfizer only has a 3 week wait period for the second dose, we’re all going to be fully vaccinated within a couple of days of each other. Yay!!
  • What I Read:
    • I listened to Mary Underwater by Shannon Doleski and then started listening to Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake so I can finally finish the series.
    • I read Aru Shah and the City of Gold and posted my blog tour review (with a giveaway – check it out!).
  • TV We Watched:
    • Supernatural. We’re still working our way through season 10. We’re at the awkward middle portion of the season where we always get a little bored. We absolutely loved the beginning of the season though (the episode with the musical production of Supernatural was pretty much the best thing ever written!).
    • The Circle. My mom, my daughter Danielle, my son Noah, and I watched the next four episodes of this show, and we are all completely hooked! They added some twists this season that have made it even more addictive.

Here’s what you may have missed on the blog since my last Sunday Post:

  1. I hope we can get some pictures to admire all your labor when it starts growing in. The payoff for jobs like that can be huge in the beauty you created. YEAH! Glad your family will have that extra protection now.

  2. Way to go on the vaccines and the yard cleanup! We are fully vaccinated. But my yard has been mostly weeds. I am doing weed & feed later today on half. At the end of May, I plan to do the new soil and some sod in areas which are causing drainage problems and don’t have much other than weeds.

  3. Yard work is never fun, but usually necessary. Glad you were able to work together to complete the job! And yay for Supernatural! Yeah, that musical episode was so funny! I loved it! I struggle to remember the other highlights of the season. I know my all time favorite episode isn’t until Season 14! The other one I really liked was the one in season 6 where Sam and Dean were sent to an alternate dimension where they are really themselves acting on the show Supernatural!

Nice new read! That’s a new to me one but I hope you enjoy it once you get to read it!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

  4. SO glad and also a little jealous that you’re all vaccinated! This week is Lena’s turn to be in quarantine, Sam had taken the last turn over Easter. Like really? This is because none of their classmates will follow the rules. I am very sick of it. I digress, and I am very glad you’re all protected! This yard work sounds like hell, honestly, and that is why I refused to move anywhere in which I’d have to take care of my own outdoors ? Like Idk how to work a lawnmower, and I do not intend to find out haha.

I bought two books from your bookshop today! (Ironically, I went to it *before* I saw your post- I had gotten the free shipping email and wanted to support a friend’s shop too!) I really need to find a way to try to make my “storefront” thing more… appealing, or unique, or idk, anything to help people find it I guess! Your idea of linking your pre-order page to it was ::chef’s kiss:: perfection!

    • Oh, wow – thanks so much for buying through my shop! I agree that the pre-order page seemed like a perfect tie-in to the affiliate thing. I’ve actually gotten a few purchases that way, and I think I only got a few Amazon purchases in all the years I was an Amazon affiliate, so I guess that’s paid off? I mean, anything helps offset costs, right?

Sorry to hear about the kids’ quarantines. It’s funny because just this morning I sent you an email with the monthly WURU and asked how the kids were doing with school. Should’ve come read my comments first. LOL!

And, yes, lawn care is super annoying. Luckily, my husband and kids do most of it (we pay the kids to mow), but these big projects are always full family affairs. I’ve hauled more dirt in the past few weeks than I ever want to see again!

  5. Congrats on everyone in the family being almost fully vaccinated! It’s such a relief, isn’t it? I know it doesn’t mean everything is fine again but it still makes me feel a bit better!!

  6. Yay for everyone getting vaccinated finally! I really need to move on in the Kendare Blake series. Although it’s been so long since I read book one that I probably need to reread it. Is the show The Circle the same premise as the book/movie? The one that was really kind of about Google? Violets are Blue is new to me. I need to check it out, it has a really pretty cover! Have a great week!
