The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.
This past week on FYFA (and in my life):
- Musical in Chicago! Last night we went to see a pre-Broadway musical called Paradise Square that takes place in Manhattan in an area where many Blacks and Irish refugees lived during the Civil War. The play culminates during the Draft Riots, when many Blacks in the area were killed. The play was very powerful, especially the performance by the lead, who blew us away in her final song. We managed to snag orchestra seats to the show for only $25 using the lottery!
- Madrigal concert. Today we’re attending Danielle’s big winter madrigal concert, which she’s been rehearsing for all semester.
- Writing. Making good headway on my revisions!
- What I Read:
- I read Jillian vs. Parasite Planet by Nicole Stace-Kornher. Then, for the Cybils, I read Rez Dogs by Joseph Bruchac, Home Is Not a Country by Safia Elhillo, D-39: A Robodog’s Journey by Irene Latham, You Don’t Have to Be Everything edited by Diana Whitney, and Alma Presses Play by Tina Cane.
- I’m still listening to Our Violent Ends by Chloe Gong.
- What I Watched:
- Still watching the All-Stars seasons of The Amazing Race.

Fingers crossed that Danielle’s concert went wonderful! Wow, that’s amazing you were able to snag orchestra seats for that price, what a score! It sounds like it was very powerful experience.
Yeah, I’m definitely going to try to get tickets to other shows for the $25 lottery price – it was fantastic!
That musical sounds wonderful! There’s something about seeing on stage- I’m always amazed how moving that can be.
I agree – it was great to see a live show again!
I just got Jay’s Gay Agenda in a holiday swap and I cannot wait to read it.
How fun you won lottery tickets to see a show. I miss plays and musicals.

I hope you had a good week.
Thank you!
Paradise Square sounds like such an enlightening musical! It’s amazing how much I’ve learned about history and have found a greater respect for all peoples by watching musicals. I’m going to have to see Paradise Square one day!
I definitely recommend the musical!
