The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.

What’s been happening since my last Sunday Post:

I didn’t post last weekend because we were busy celebrating Mother’s Day and my daughter Danielle’s birthday! We had a really fun day – went to go see the Mario Movie (see below about that) and had a nice dinner. I’ve also just been enjoying hanging out with Danielle before she leaves again, since she’s going to Spain for her study abroad next week. We’ve been preparing for her trip and playing Scrabble (and a few other games, but mostly Scrabble), and I’ve been watching her and her sister play the new Legend of Zelda game. They have a unique playing system – they each play with one controller and therefore have to work together to control different aspects of Link’s character. They’ve been doing it for years, so they’ve got it down to a science now – sometimes I forget that’s not how the game is supposed to be played!

My son has also been keeping busy – he had prom last night, and his graduation is on Thursday (with a senior party afterward). And he got his very first job at Six Flags. You have never seen a kid so excited about working before – he is absolutely thrilled! If you’ve been around the blog for a while you know he has special needs, and it’s been hard for me not to want to step in as a go-between with the job, but I’ve resisted the temptation (except where his hours are concerned – they had him scheduled for over 50 hours in one week, which he was perfectly happy to see, but he doesn’t have a true understanding of time, so he has no idea what that would be like. I told him that’s more than his dad or I work, but he still didn’t see a problem. LOL!)

I also booked my first school visit already! The visit isn’t until March of 2024, but it’s in the books. Pretty exciting, considering the book won’t even be out yet. (I’m still waiting on my edit letter for the book, by the way, so no new news there. Hopefully soon!!)

What I Read:

  • I read The Write Thing by Kwame Alexander.
  • I continued listening to Under the Whispering Door by T.J. Klune.

What I Watched:

  • I’ve continued watching the newest episodes of American Idol.
  • I watched another episode of Sweet Tooth.
  • I continued watching 3%.
  • Jade and Danielle have been watching She-Ra, so I’ve been catching a lot of the episodes with them. It’s a lot better than the show from back in my day.
  • Like I said above, we went to go see the Super Mario Bros. Movie on Mother’s Day/my daughter’s birthday! We all really loved it. Honestly, I don’t think there was much in the way of plot, but the movie elicited so much pure joy just from seeing nods to all our favorite Mario gameplay moments onscreen. We got a Wii as our first gaming console when my oldest was just four years old, and the first game was Super Mario Galaxy. We still have a Switch to this day, and Mario Cart tournaments are still a thing in our household – even Grandma plays!

Here’s what you may have missed on the blog since my last Sunday Post:

  1. Congrats to your son! That’s awesome! And whoa, 50 hours?! And that’s an outside job…in the Midwest! Though I know you’re a little more North than me, so it seems like your temps tend to be a wee bit cooler than what ours are. I know my aunt in Milwaukee tends to have gorgeous weather while I’m sweltering down here! Lol. Though 50 hours should make a nice paycheck for him, but even 40 would be good at that age!

I haven’t been to the movies in ages. Lately, it’s just been streaming whichever one on whatever streaming service we have! Lol. Although, I don’t think I’m going to want to wait to see the new Haunted Mansion! Hopefully I’ll be able to squeeze that into my schedule this summer, otherwise, I’ll be waiting for it to hit Disney+ again! Lol. That’s also exciting about your first school visit! So cool!

Hope you have a great week ahead this week!

  2. I hope your daughter has fun in Spain, and congrats on all the news for your son. I hope he loves or is loving his job. That’s definitely a lot of hours, so yeah, I’d step in too. LOL

Yay for having an author visit on the books already! I’m so excited for you.

  3. Congrats on all the things! Also, I completely agree with not letting your son work 50 hours. I do that kind of nonsense every summer, and it’s brutal. I don’t recommend it to anyone who wants to stay sane. 🙂 The teenagers at my job usually work or volunteer 16-24 hours a week.

  4. I would term it as life in its absolute motion, with many moments to celebrate and a few to get engrossed in and accomplish the end objective. Congratulations to your son, and I am sure you and Danielle were able to create moments of togetherness, that you shall cherish forever. Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony, and I wish you all, this quintessential virtue of harmony and togetherness!

As our lives are being invaded by AI, I wonder how human relationships will evolve in 2075 and if love and humans can live together in 2075. Maybe you will find this interesting : https://best-selling-books-scifi.blogspot.com/2023/05/how-will-humans-experience-love-in-2075.html
