The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.
What’s been happening since my last Sunday Post:
Copyedits & cover sketches!: I got cover sketches, and we chose the direction to go in. I have to say, I love it! I’m not sure if I’m allowed to share who my cover artist is (publishing rules are so weird – guess I’ll have to check on that), but I am in love with the artist, and I’m so excited for my cover! And then I also got my first round of copyedits and sent them back to my editor. So, lots going on!!
Work and holiday stuff: It’s been so long since I posted – Thanksgiving happened (Danielle brought a friend home with her who lives on the East Coast and wouldn’t have been able to go home), and we’ve been starting to get prepared for Christmas now. I’ve been working more, too, with the holiday season. Basically, I’ve been crazily busy! Sorry for being away so long!
What I Read:
- I think maybe I haven’t read anything this month? Like I’m wracking my brain because I thought I read a MG book, but if I did, I didn’t make note of it and I can’t think of what it was now. If I think of it, I’ll let you know later!
- I did finish listening to The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store by James McBride, the Barnes & Noble Book of the Year. I’ll confess that since I typically read MG and YA, this is a bit more of a character study than I’m typically used to, but it’s a good one.
- Then I started listening to Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros because my mom had the audiobook from her library and it had time left on it, so I figured I’d sneak in and listen to it (even though I own the book). As soon as it started, I got really excited because I realized it’s narrated by Rebecca Soler. She’s the only audiobook narrator I know by name (and instantaneously when I hear her). I absolutely love her, so I’m really enjoying the book so far!
Here’s what you may have missed on the blog since my last Sunday Post:
NEW Pre-order Campaigns
Head over to my Pre-Order Campaigns Page to see ALL of the pre-order deals, including pictures!!
Basically the only reason I still have this page is because a lovely person named Serena sends me notifications about pre-order campaigns. I am very thankful to her! Unfortunately, I just haven’t been able to keep up with the page lately, though, even with Serena’s messages. Once again, I’m writing this post at almost 11pm (after serving at church and then working all day), and I just don’t have the energy to update the pre-orders. I’m sorry I’m letting you down, Serena!!
Lots of good stuff! Have any news? Feel free to share in the comments!
I feel bad for everybody who’s working retail right now. I just got home from Walmart, and it was packed. It’s Monday! Stores are supposed to be empty on my days off. 🙂
Oh wow! Cover art time! That’s exciting! I’m always intrigued how the process works since most authors say they rarely have much if any say in the process. Sometimes one will get a little more say, but it’s rare these days I guess! Glad you’re happy with the direction they are going in!
It must be so exciting seeing all your hard work come together. Your cover! I cannot wait to see it.
How exciting that you’re working on your cover design. I’m looking forward to reading James McBride’s book. I’m reading more adult authors these days.
Holiday season was my least favorite time at the bookstore just because of how crazy busy it could be. But I do miss my bookstore job a little! Still enjoying all the updates on your publishing journey! I hope to start Fourth Wing during my holiday break. Have a great week! Sorry I’m so late commenting!
