The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.

What’s been happening since my last Sunday Post:

Today’s my 50th birthday! Scott and I went to a Bulls game to celebrate. I used to love basketball back in the day when the Bulls were a huge deal, but for some reason I stopped watching. But then we got invited to see a Bucks game with my sister-in-law because she had free tickets, and we suddenly remembered how much we enjoy it. So, we’ve been watching the Bulls for most of the season. It was really fun to see them play in person at the United Center! That place is incredible!

Preparing for a school visit: I actually have my first school visit scheduled next month where I’m teaching poetry workshops to 6th-8th graders! It seems strange to have booked a school visit before I even have a cover for my book, but I have an author friend (who’s also a teacher), and she referred me since she knows I taught at a homeschool co-op for many years. Still, since I haven’t done this exact type of thing in the past, I’ve been working diligently to prepare.

More mapmaking: My daughter has been working on the second (and final) map for THE SONG OF ORPHAN’S GARDEN, and so we’ve been consulting on that a lot. I’m loving how it’s turning out!

What I Read:

  • I read Free Period by Ali Terese. I loved this book with its mix of laugh-out-loud humor and an important message about period equity.
  • And now I’m reading Not Quite a Ghost by Anne Ursu. Loving it so far!
  • I finished listening to The Other Side of the River by Alda P. Dobbs. My opinion didn’t change – I enjoyed this one even more than the first book in the series.
  • And then I listened to The Unforgettable Logan Foster, which I loved so much I immediately started listening to The Unforgettable Logan Foster and the Shadow of Doubt!

Here’s what you may have missed on the blog since my last Sunday Post:

  1. Happy Birthday, Nicole! Sounds like you did something fun for your birthday and enjoyed it very much! I didn’t see the January Monthly Wrap up Linkup the last time I was here, but I’ve linked up now. Yayy!

  2. Happy belated birthday, and good luck on your school visit! It sounds exciting (and terrifying LOL. But I’m talking about me 😅. You’ll know what to do…).
