The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.

What’s been happening since my last Sunday Post:

I hope those of you in the US had a fun 4th of July! I took the day off (yay!), and we went to fireworks with family.

I know my last Sunday Post I was a little down about the fact that my second book didn’t get picked up, but I had a fantastic call with my editor this past week that made me feel so much more positive. She has an incredible amount of faith in THE SONG OF ORPHAN’S GARDEN and she just gushed about how she thinks it’s going to win awards and then we’ll be able to say “I told you so” to the sales manager. LOL!! I’m not getting my hopes up for that, but it sure is nice to hear her enthusiasm and support for the book and know she’s in my corner!

Speaking of THE SONG OF ORPHAN’S GARDEN, you can preorder from Barnes & Noble this week (until the 17th) and get 25% off (an extra 10% if you’re a Premium member – plus double stamps!). I’m sure you all already know that preorders can be immensely important for an author. Preorders from B&N can help ensure that the book is available in their stores when it releases, so it’s a win-win since you’ll get a discount and I’ll get a little boost in B&N’s corporate eyes. 😂 (But, obviously, I’m equally happy if you prefer to order from your local indie or anywhere else.)

Here’s a sneak peek at one part of the preorder campaign, too. This is a color version of one of the two maps that appear in the book (drawn by my daughter Danielle and then digitally colored by the two of us). This is the more “official” map that Lyriana uses for her journey (you can see her route up to the beginning of the book), and the second map is one that Brob (AKA Danielle, once again) drew. I’ll give you a sneak peek of a colored version of that one soon! Of course, these look even better at full size!

What I Read:

  • I read Anzu and the Realm of Darkness by Mai K. Nguyen. One of my coworkers has taken to getting graphic novels from the library and bringing them in to work so we can all read them on our breaks. I’m definitely liking this new habit!
  • My coworker also brought in Snapdragon by Kat Leyh, so I read that one too!
  • I listened to Iceberg by Jennifer A. Nielsen. I haven’t read a Nielsen book in a long time, so it was great to get back to her!

Here’s what you may have missed on the blog since my last Sunday Post:

Book Haul:

  1. I love that your daughter got to do the map, and it is so great! As for awards when your book comes out, I’ll be recommending it to my state’s middle school book award committee I’m sure. And then when your book wins, they’ll invite you to our spring conference and maybe we’ll finally get to meet in person! lol I love Nielsen’s books as well, I need to read this one still! Hope you’ve had a great week!
