Still, the book seems so fun that I wanted to feature it on the blog and give you all a chance at the giveaway. I just wanted to clarify that this spotlight post isn’t an indication that I read the book and wasn’t a fan – on the contrary, I’m still looking forward to reading it at some point! The Undays of Aralias Lyons by K.L. Horvath – Horvath’s Top Ten Addictions & Giveaway

Author Top Ten Lists, Giveaways (Ended) 4

If you follow my blog regularly you know that, in addition to blogging, I’m also an editor and proofreader. I don’t review the books that I work on (that would be a conflict of interest!), but I do love to spread the word about them when I can. This Booktrope project was just released on the 9th, and I wanted to give you all a chance to win a copy. Plus, I get to share another fun Top Ten Addictions list with you! The book is a mix of time traveling steampunk with a British flair – I found it quite fun. If you were a fan of Jackaby, it has that sort of feeling (though not quite as intensely quirky!). Hope you’ll check it out! K.L. Horvath’s Top Ten Addictions 1.      Starbucks cake pops 2.      Watching the show Tiny House 3.      Dark Chocolate 4.      Going to Barnes and Noble and… Read more »

Between the Notes by Sharon Huss Roat – Guest Post & $20 Giveaway

Between the Notes by Sharon Huss Roat – Guest Post & $20 Giveaway

Author Top Ten Lists, Giveaways (Ended) 10

I remember seeing this book back when it came out and thinking it looked really good, so I thought this would be a great opportunity to introduce you to it and give you a chance to win a $20 gift card as well. PLUS, you get this very fun guest post about Roat’s disastrous attempts at titling the book.   Book Title Brain Dump: A Top Ten List of Rejected Titles for BETWEEN THE NOTES by Sharon Huss Roat I learned recently that R.L. Stine, author of the Goosebumps books, starts writing ONLY after he is inspired by a great title. As someone who always struggles to find the perfect title, I’m more than a little jealous. Here’s a look at some of the titles I threw out there in the process of naming BETWEEN THE NOTES. Thankfully, none of them stuck. 1) IVY’S TOWER – This was original title, which I… Read more »

Forget Tomorrow by Pintip Dunn – Review & Dunn’s Top Ten Addictions

Forget Tomorrow by Pintip Dunn – Review & Dunn’s Top Ten Addictions

Author Top Ten Lists, Reviews 16 ★★★★

Forget Tomorrow is an exhilarating new sci-fi dystopian set in a world where everyone knows the future – at least a snippet of it. Callie’s spent her life waiting to turn seventeen so she can see with absolute certainty what she’ll make of herself. This is because, in her society, when a person turns seventeen they receive a memory from their future selves – the memory that Callie’s future self believes will best guide her toward her fate. But Callie’s memory is of something she will do anything to avoid. The question is, can she thwart fate or will all of her actions inevitably end in a tragic result no matter what she does? What fed my addiction: Fate vs. free will. As you can probably guess based on the synopsis, the question of fate versus free will plays a huge role in this book. People in Callie’s society put complete faith… Read more »

The Book of Ivy and The Revolution of Ivy by Amy Engel – Review and Engel’s Top Ten Addictions

The Book of Ivy and The Revolution of Ivy by Amy Engel – Review and Engel’s Top Ten Addictions

Author Top Ten Lists, Reviews 9 ★★★★½

When I heard that The Revolution of Ivy was being released, I knew it was time to pick up the first book – I’d bought it at the beginning of the year because I heard so many raving reviews of it, but I was holding off on actually reading it because I’d heard about that cliffhanger and I heard the series was a duology. I figured why not wait for the conclusion? And this was my chance! Well, The Book of Ivy definitely lived up to my high expectations! This book had me turning the pages at a furious rate and I stayed up way too late reading it! The book follows Ivy, who has been told her whole life that her family’s enemy is her own. She’s known for the past two years that she would be marrying the president’s son – and that she would need to kill… Read more »

Anya and the Shy Guy by Suze Winegardner – Review & Winegardner’s Top Ten Addictions

Anya and the Shy Guy by Suze Winegardner – Review & Winegardner’s Top Ten Addictions

Author Top Ten Lists, Reviews 6 ★★★½

Anya and the Shy Guy is the fourth installment in the Backstage Pass series, which chronicles the love lives of the members of Seconds to Juliet, a superstar boy band. I haven’t read the first three books in the series (those of you who know me well are gasping right now – I never read series out of order), but this book really did stand well on its own as a standalone – and now I want to read the others! The synopsis describes the book really well, so I’m going to jump straight to my review. What I loved: The twin story. I’m pretty much a sucker for a twin switch story, which is why I couldn’t resist this book even though I hadn’t read the first three. And Matt’s story definitely met all of my expectations – the pressure of the twin trying to pass himself off, the efforts to bend… Read more »

Review, Giveaway & Author Top Ten List – Racing Hearts by Laura Lascarso

Review, Giveaway & Author Top Ten List – Racing Hearts by Laura Lascarso

Author Top Ten Lists, Giveaways (Ended), Reviews 17 ★★★★

Racing Hearts is a great start to a series of novellas that feature romance and race car driving. I haven’t read very many serial novellas, so this was a bit new for me, but I enjoyed getting to know the characters for this series and I’m eager to read more! What I enjoyed: Jesse. Jesse is one of those characters who is just instantly likable. He’s working hard to take care of his family after his father’s death – and he’s given up most of his own freedom to do so. He’s also given up on his dream of becoming a race car driver ever since his father and biggest supporter has been gone. I’m eager to see him find his love of racing again. Starcrossed lovers. Jesse and Brooke are a bit of an unlikely pair. Their fathers were friends turned arch-rivals, and they had some very bad blood between them at… Read more »
