Last week on FYFA (and in my life):
As I’m writing this right now, my husband and two of my kids are having a pigeon dance party. Yep, that’s about how life goes in our house! (Don’t worry, you’re totally not supposed to know what a pigeon dance party is – they’re just crazy, that’s all!)
Sickness ran rampant through our house this week. My older son started us off with a 105 degree fever (he tends to spike high fevers a lot when he gets sick, so we don’t panic too much, but it’s still no fun). Then my husband and I both felt junky for a couple of days with a low-grade fever, and my daughter wrapped it up with a fever and a sore throat. Ugh! Luckily, I think we’re pretty much over it now. Hopefully.
Finished up editing Defy by Allie Juliette Mousseau as well this week (the third book in the Brothers of Ink and Steel series). Woo hoo!
Here on the blog, I’m planning to put together a list of 2016 reading/book blogging challenges. If you’re hosting one (or even just know of one), let me know in the comments and I’ll be sure to include it!

Oh man so sorry you guys all got sick. That’s the worst. Glad you are pretty much over it. Enjoy your new books and have a great week!
Yeah, it made for an unpleasant week – especially with the holiday, but at least it wasn’t one of those sicknesses that drags on.
I hope you and your kids are feeling better. Have a great week!
Thanks! Seems like we’re on the mend!
Oh man, I’m so sorry that your entire family was so sick! I’m glad that you’re all over the worst of it now 🙂 Hopefully this week will be back to full health for everyone! Have a great week and enjoy your new books! xx
I’m hoping we’ll be completely better for this week, since we have our final performances for the fall semester of our co-op classes. There’s no getting sick allowed now!
I hope you are feeling better, Nicole!
ChapterBreak, Second Run Reviews and Bookworm Brandee are hosting the Shelf Love Challenge. Please let me know if you are doing the Discussion challenge again. I would love to send participants in our challenge to yours as well since we have monthly discussion posts. I’ve got the details on my site under Features & Challenges. Official rollout is 12/9, but the page if there for those who are looking for the challenge and/or want to link up!
Have a good week.
We’re definitely doing the discussion challenge again! Shannon and I are working out final details and then we’ll have the announcement up. I’ll be sure to include the Shelf Love Challenge in my list!!
*happy dance* I loved the Discussion Challenge so much. When I was working on the discussion topics for the #ShelfLove Challenge I definitely drew inspiration from ideas from your challenge.
Ugh. I am WAITING for this to happen to us. My oldest had a sore throat, stuffy nose, and cough this past week, but no fever. So I gave her tylenol and nose drops and sent her off to school. I’m hoping that’s the last of things for a while because she’s already much better.
Yeah, the worst is when we start passing it around to each other and can’t shake it. Hopefully we’re done now!
Oh nice! I still have Gravity in my TBR pile from a previous sale to read! Hope you enjoy your new reads!!
Here’s my STS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
I’ve seen it around a lot, so when I saw it for free, I thought I’d snatch it up!
I totally don’t know what a pigeon dance party is- but it sounds fun! Hope evryone is feeling better- there is definitely stuff going around. Love your giveaway roundups- and your post on blogging and life this week was nice. It does really open our eyes to new books and horizons, and meeting like minded people from around the world- totally agree. Nice post.
Enjoy your week! 🙂
Yeah, I don’t actually know what it is either. All I know is that they were dancing crazily, flapping their wings. 🙂 Thanks for checking out my discussion!
Thanks for featuring my discussion post, Nicole! Glad that you and your family are finally well. It sucks when you are not feeling the greatest and it sucks even more when everyone in your family is!
Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
You’re very welcome! Hopefully your advice will keep someone from having the same problems you had!
Glad to hear you all are starting to feel better! I absolutely HATE being sick. I don’t really get fevers either, so sometimes it’s tough to tell what’s wrong. haha
I MIGHT be hosting a book challenge for 2016 – feel free to share your thoughts on my latest blog!
Ugh. We’re just getting over the same thing here in my household, so I know what that’s like. Anyway, pigeon dance party sounds like a hoot. Lol.
Happy reading!
I am also feeling junky. Really junky. Twice now I thought I was over it, only to learn the hard way as it came back a little worse each time. If things don’t clear out tomorrow, I’m calling my doctor line and getting something worked out. It makes me nervous because I got my flu shot about a week before coming down with all this. :/ I hope y’all are all on the up and up!
I think compiling a list of blog challenges is excellent! I want to focus more on a couple, but I want to see what all’s out there, too.
I am so sorry that sickness was running through your household! I am glad to hear you guys are feeling better. I have had a nasty cough for a week now and I am over it. Ugh.
I hope you enjoy Paradise Road… I liked that one more than the first.
I hope that bug stays away and you are all better now!
