Bookish Naughty or Nice Tag

Posted December 24, 2017 by Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction in Let's Discuss, Tags / 22 Comments

I wasn’t planning on posting today (my Sunday Post actually went up yesterday for just that reason), but then I found this fun tag over at A Dance with Books and just had to jump in! It was originally created over at A Page of Jenniely as part of Blogmas. She asked us some tough book blogger questions that we need to answer to find out if we’re on the Naughty List or the Nice List this Christmas!

Received an ARC and Didn’t Review It

Oh, wow. Not a good start. Yes, unfortunately I have a good number of ARCs I haven’t read yet. I still plan to read most of them, but keeping up sometimes feels impossible.

Have Less than 60% Feedback Rating on Netgalley

Ahhh. Much better. Nope, I’m happy to say my NetGalley score is sitting pretty at 87% (and I have a book that I’ve read off of NG that I just need to review, which will happen very soon!)

Rated a Book on Goodreads and Promised a Full Review Was to Come on My Blog (and Never Posted It)

I don’t think so. I post most reviews on my blog, with the exception of a few books I’ve read for our homeschool co-op, some manga and a few nonfiction books. Typically, if I don’t post the review on my blog, it’s because I decided not to.

Folded Down the Corner of a Page in a Book

No way!

Accidentally Spilled on a Book

Not this year. Unless you count the fact that a couple of my books got splashed a little while I was at swim meets—something I knew might happen and let it happen anyway! (Shame on me!)

DNFed a Book

Nope. (But when you get down three spots you’ll see why).

Bought a Book Purely Because It Was Pretty with No Intention of Reading It

Oh, I’ve been known to buy a book for the pretty factor, but I always at least think I’ll read it.

Read Whilst I Was Meant to be Doing Something Else (Like Homework)

All. The. Time.

Skim Read a Book

Yep. This is basically my version of a DNF. If I’m not feeling a book, I generally can’t convince myself to put it down completely, but I’ll skim read to the end.

Completely Missed My Goodreads Goal

I’m pretty darn close. I think I’ll hit it, but we shall see.

Borrowed a Book and Didn’t Return It

Not this year, but I’m ashamed to admit that I have done this in the past.

Broke a Book Buying Ban

Can’t break what you don’t make!

Started a Review, Left It for Ages then Forgot What the Book Was About

Oh, wow. This is just a constant issue for me. I am horrible about waiting too long to review and then forgetting the book completely.

Wrote in a Book I Was Reading

Yessiree, and I liked it! I even wrote a post all about it.

Finished a Book and Didn’t Add It to My Goodreads

Actually, there is one book that fits this category. (Actually, I added it and then took it right back off.) I know you’re all dying to know why. I had reasons.

I was doing pretty well there for a while. I’d like to think that I’m still in the Nice category—I mean, I’m 60% Nice. That’s pretty good, right?

It’s not too late! Jump in and join the tag! Have you been Naughty or Nice? I want to know!

  1. Oh, I LOVE this tag! I’m basically scared of ARCs so much, because I get these really bad funks in general. I like that you use your blog as a place for your reviews. I am still not sure which books need to be reviewed. Like, do I just post the positive stuff on the blog, and then rant on Goodreads? *Weighs options*
    *Jumps off a cliff*
Happy holidays to you and to your family!

  2. Oh what a fun tag, I love it! I don’t think I could ever spill something on my books, I’m always really, REALLY careful with them, haha, they’re like my babies. I have never written in a book either, but it’s great to see you love to so much! 🙂
Best of luck for hitting your Goodreads goal, you can do this! Wishing you great holidays and a merry christmas xx 🙂

  3. This Goodreads book thing might keep me up at night. I don’t skim, but I do DNF, quite a bit. However, I don’t make my DNFs public. I have a thing about trying to only share my positive reading experiences. You’re making me feel like a NG slacker. I am at 80%, so I am ok with that, but I would love to get back to the 90% range. Good job to you!

  4. Yay you made the nice list! I can’t do the skim reading thing though. I can skim a paragraph here or there if I can tell it’s unimportant, but aside from that, I end up feeling I’m missing something and then I go back and read the page again and that’s just even worse, haha.

  5. This post looks like so much fun, I wish I’d seen it before Christmas. Don’t know that I can sneak it in before the end of the year though. You’re good if you at least skim read a DNF. If I put DNF, it means I really did not finish at all. And, I’m naughty, I do fold the corner of a page down in a paperback if it is my own copy.
