This past week on FYFA (and in my life):
I don’t know where my head has been this week, but it apparently hasn’t been attached to me. It was one of those weeks where I just felt so scatterbrained. On Sunday, I forgot to show up to something at church. Then I forgot to order books for my co-op language arts class and missed half my daughter’s guitar/voice lesson because we assumed her teacher was out of town—we had reasons, but I won’t go into a long explanation. Suffice it to say, I should have checked. Today, I figured out I was a day late for submitting something for the conference I’m going to in June. Oh, and I’ve been late with my tweets for everyone’s birthdays and blogoversaries these past two weeks. I’m hoping my brain comes back someday soon.
Two of my co-op classes (the acting classes) are done now, but the kids in my language arts class asked if we could continue the class until the end of the extended semester (so, Mid-May). How could I turn that down? I mean, the kids want to keep coming to class. We’re reading Breadcrumbs from Anne Ursu (along with Hans Christian Anderson’s “The Snow Queen,” since the book is based on it). So, one more month of my last two classes and I’ll be done—probably for good. It’s both sad and exciting.
My family has been watching Malinda Kathleen Reese’s Google Translate Sings on YouTube the last few days. If you’ve never seen these, you need to check them out because they are hilarious! My husband and I were seriously laughing so hard on Friday night we were crying.
Here’s what you may have missed on the blog this past week:
- Why Is Voice in Writing So Hard? And Do You Think About It When You Read? Let’s Discuss.

I have had weeks like that.In fact, since baby #3 has gotten here I have forgotten so much stuff every day I need to do. Hopefully, next week will be better!!!
I don’t have any new babies to blame it on, but I think years of raising kids has sucked all my brain cells away. 🙂
I’ve also been scatterbrained lately. I think it’s because my dog is sick, and my mom had surgery, and I’m very tired. I hope you have a good week!
Yeah, I think mine has mostly been because we’ve had all our end-of-year stuff going on at co-op. Between rehearsals and performances, it’s just been a little crazy. I keep telling myself I just need to make it through this last month. And keep my sanity until then.
Oh dear, there’s nothing worse than having those ‘senior moments’! My brain is all over the place but that’s because I’m tired sitting up through the night to watch sport!
This week has been full of senior moments. I just don’t even want to think about what will happen when I actually get to senior status.
Oh my! We’ve all had those moments, but wow, they hit all at once there didn’t they? That should clear you out for at least 3 months I’d say! 😉
Nothing new this week? Well, that’s always nice for the TBR pile! I sort of had a week like that since the book I got was already one I read! Plus a comic book…which I am so deeply behind on!
Ohh! And I totally meant to tell you about another preorder offer I found: http://www.randomhousebooks.com/campaign/kill-the-farm-boy/
Here’s my STS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
Thanks so much for that pre-order. I’ll be sure to add that one to the list!
Aw, I’m sorry about the rough week. Sometimes it just happens! I hope this week is much better though and things go a bit smoother. 🙂
-Lauren
In the grand scheme of things, the week wasn’t so bad, considering. But it was a bit frustrating to keep realizing I was forgetting things!
I’ve been off since the time change, I swear it. I feel you on the scatterbrained behavior. Sounds like you need to reconnect with your planner or something. 🙂
I love that your language arts class wants to keep coming and discussing books! That’s the best!
Ha! I’ve never been able to stick to a planner. Typically, my Google calendar has sufficed, but I actually broke down and created an online to-do list yesterday. We’ll see if I can keep it up.
I don’t know, but it sounds like it’s time for a vacation. Some endings are bittersweet. How will it feel to have more free time once you aren’t teaching any longer?
I’m excited about having some “free” time, though I’m hoping I fill it up plenty with writing. 🙂
Been there, done that. LOL Some weeks I wish I could have a do over. Hopefully things will straighten out for you this week:)
A do-over would definitely be nice. Oh well!
Oh boy, what a week. Hope this week is better… maybe you need a little down time? 🙂 That’s so awesome that the kids want to continue the class! That has to be a good feeling.
Yeah, down time would probably be good. I don’t know if it will happen, though. In the grand scheme of things, it wasn’t so bad, but I just kept thinking I was going out of my mind!
Well, I hope you’ll have a better week. You’re allowed off days. <3
Yep, sometimes that’s just the way it goes. I just sort of thought I was losing my mind. 🙂
I had a similar moment of forgetfulness this past weekend. I had a writing date with a friend on Saturday, and I packed everything I needed into my laptop bag. Then I left the house a little early so I could get gas and pick up a prescription before I drove across town to our meeting place. As I was pulling in to park at the meeting place, I realized my laptop bag was sitting at home. I had forgotten to put in my car. Fortunately the lady that runs the little diner we were at had a notepad I could borrow, and I did get basically what I needed done by writing by hand. Gah! And you’ve also now hooked me on those Google Translate videos. I watched the Ed Sheeran Shape of YOu one and laughed while sitting at my desk at work. Thanks for sharing those! Hope your week is a better one!
Oh my gosh, that one is hilarious. Gradually watermelon will be in my head forever now with the image of her slowly lifting a watermelon into the air. 🙂
I hate weeks like that! It seems that no matter how many planners I have, or notes I leave myself, I still have times where everything just slips by me! Oh well!
Hope this is a great week!
Usually my Google calendar is sufficient, but lately I need something better!
Oh my. I feel for you. I blame the weather and the time change. I hope this week is an easier one for you.
Thanks! I think I’m past my brain deadness. 🙂
I get weeks and days like that too where my brain just doesn’t work. It’s so frustrating. I hope this week is better!
Luckily, my brain seems to have mostly recovered from its lapse. Glad I’m not the only one who has these sorts of weeks!
I love those google translate songs! They are sooo hilarious haha. Awesome post. Thank you for sharing! 😀
Brittany @ Brittany’s Book Rambles
I agree that the Google translate videos are hilarious! I can’t get enough of them!
Hugs for having an off week! I think we definitely go through those phases, at least I know I have those days where I keep thinking what is wrong with me and where is my brain?! LOL. Here’s hoping that this next week flows a lot easier for you. ♥
My brain was luckily a bit more attached this week. 🙂
I have also been feeling like this! And I’ve been posting less as a result xD
I’ve been so behind on everything. I have over 140 comments to reply to. Um, yikes!
