This past week on FYFA (and in my life):
Nothing new to say this week. I’ve still been working on organizing my MG bookshelf, but I don’t have a new pic yet. Spent lots of time at track meets this past week. And on doing homework with the kiddos. It’s been rainy here, but I’ll take that over snow!!
Here’s what you may have missed on the blog since my last Sunday Post:
Always lots of posts at the end/beginning of the month!
- Bite-Sized Reviews of Song for a Whale, A Friendly Town That’s Almost Always by the Ocean, The Color of Lies, and The Lunar Chronicles
- The Everlasting Rose by Dhonielle Clayton – Excerpt & Giveaway
- Bite-Sized Reviews of The Revenge of Magic, Hey, Kiddo, and Born a Crime
Book Blogger Birthdays and Blogoversaries:
Here are the birthdays and blogoversaries for this week! I hope you’ll go wish these bloggers well on their special days! Make sure you check out the calendar to see what you might have just missed or what’s coming up. (If you want to be added to the calendar, it’s easy! Just fill out the birthday/blogoversary form.)
- March 16th – Clare @ Dual Reads‘ Birthday
Book Haul:
For Review:
I’ve been really looking forward to Midsummer Mayhem, a middle grade Midsummer Night’s Dream retelling with baking (Yum!). I’ve talked to the author some on Twitter, and she offered me a review copy, which I definitely was not going to turn down.
I also received The Everlasting Rose for the tour (a little too late to post my review on my tour spot, but it will be coming soon!) and The Silence Between Us came in the mail as well. This one is an #OwnVoices Deaf story, which is pretty rare, so I’m excited to read it.
Great Discussions/Goings On Around the Blogosphere:
- Nicole @ Thoughts Stained with Ink talks about her fears about her writing, and I can completely relate to this. She also quotes a bit of Chuck Wendig’s post on self-rejection, which anyone who writes should read because it is SO spot-on and inspiring!
- Kat @ Novels & Waffles opened up a new (web) design shop called Waffley Cute Designs. It looks adorable and very reasonably priced. I’m considering having her do a couple of little things for me (maybe a signature and some post dividers? Possibly social media icons? Hmmm…).

The Silence Between Us looks like a good story, and I hope you will like it and let us know your thoughts.
Thanks for all the links.
Have a lovely week!
I’m definitely looking forward to reading it!
The Silence Between Us looks really good, and I already had Mayhem on my radar. I hope all your new books are fantastic.
Lots of books I’m eager to read this week!
The covers for all of your new books look wonderful. I hope you enjoy them!
Thank you!
OOh nice new reads! Totally new to me ones. I hope you enjoy them!
Yeah, I think our cold weather might be giving us a break this week too! Starting to think putting flannels on my bed might not be necessary until the weekend. Oh well! Lol!
Here’s my STS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
The flannels definitely aren’t coming off our bed yet, either. Brrrr…
Awesome! You got Everlasting Rose! I really need to read that book!
It’s going to be my next read.
I’ll take rain over snow as well, anytime! Is it spring yet? I feel like since we’re springing ahead that the weather should just cooperate and warm up now. 🙂
Happy reading this week!
Today it got up to the 60s here, but I take nothing for granted. The weather has been so wacky this year!
So I’m the opposite of you, I’ll gladly take snow over rain lol. I hate getting wet or having to use an umbrella, which is just another reason why I love living where we do since we barely get any rain. Just lots of snow. And here’s hoping you have lots of fun reading your new books! Can’t wait to see what you think of The Silence Between Us!
Yeah, but snow where you live is actually useful. You guys ski and stuff. We just stare out the window at it and wish it would go away. 🙂
Your books look great! Enjoy them! Have a great week!
Thank you!
Yay for new books! It was very rainy yesterday, but today was nicer…pretty windy though so still cold. lol
Lauren
It’s been very rainy here as well. But maybe we’ll finally get rid of all that snow!
I also received The Everlasting Rose soon, but haven’t had a chance to read it. I hope you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for sharing the pre-order incentives! I found one I forgot to enter!
I’m glad I could help you find a pre-order incentive! That’s the worst when you forget about one that you really wanted to enter.
I’m a big fan of Deaf lit (I once lived in an area with an entire room of the library dedicated to Deaf literature and nonfiction, it was amazing!), so I just slapped The Silence Between Us on my TBR list. Thanks for letting us know about this!!!
Wow! I haven’t seen that much OwnVoices Deaf lit, so I was eager to read this. Looks like I’ll have to look into it more because I’m obviously missing out.
Good luck with the organizing. Enjoy your new books, and have a great week!
Thank you!
Midsummer mayhem is an interesting concept. I’ll be interested to hear what you think of it. The Silence Between Us looks good, as well. Hope you have a great week, Nicole!
I’m looking forward to both of them!
The Silence Between Us sounds like such a great read. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on The Everlasting Rose too. Have a great week!
I’m looking forward to both of them!
Midsomer’s Mayhem sounds really good. A retelling with baking sounds like my kind of read. 🙂
Hope you have a great week!
I know, right? It seems super cute!!
Every time I come here I check out the pre-orders and this leads to buying something. You are making me bad. =0)
Thanks for the list tho. I love it!
Mary
Ha! Yes, just imagine how I feel when I make the list each week! :-0
I got the Silence Between Us this week as well. Looking forward to that one. I’ve been sick the past week, really messed up what was supposed to be my own little writing retreat this weekend. I spent the weekend out of town trying to feel better. Hope you have a good week coming up, wish we had nice enough weather for track meets. But soon! It’s starting to get there.
So sorry you’ve been sick! What a shame that it ruined your writing plans.
We’re just doing indoor track here right now—definitely not warm enough to be outside yet! (Though this week hasn’t been so bad.)
Midsummer’s Mayhem looks great 🙂 I’m a sucker for MG cover art 😀
Me too!! MG (especially fantasy) has the BEST covers!!
I’ve never read or seen A Midsummer Night’s Dream, but that retelling looks super cute! And your review copies look great too! I hope you enjoy them and get some snowless, rainless weather this week 😛
Midsummer is one of my all-time favorite Shakespeare plays. I was in it (many years ago) and have many happy memories of the show. Now I’m excited to read a retelling. 🙂
Oh the silence between us! Love that cover and I’d love to read an ownvoices deaf story.
You definitely don’t see many ownvoices Deaf books (partially because for many people in the Deaf community, English isn’t a first language, ASL is, so there aren’t as many authors in the community).
Yes, I agree rain is better than snow. Although we had some serious flooding from snow melt. Nice haul this week. I hope this week was a quiet one as well.
Yes, with ALL the snow, it can be an issue when the rain comes and then you have BOTH the rain and the melting snow.
We finally got sun this week, except today (Friday) but both the weekend and the upcoming week are also supposed to be sun. I hope you will have great reads and a sunny week ahead!
I linked to my Series on Saturday (monthly) giveaway which ends Sunday at midnight. It is all about assassins this month.
Thanks for linking it up! I try to remember to keep track of monthly giveaways and such, but sometimes I lose them, so feel free to remind me!
Good luck organizing your MG bookshelf. Midsummer’s Mayhem looks cute and I like the sound of how it has baking. Thanks for listing all those giveaways!
Midsummer and baking seems like they’d go along well too. I’m eager to read it!
Awww, thank you so much for sharing my post, Nicole! I’m so glad it resonated with you (well, not that you have fears and struggle with writing, at times, but that it pointed you to the gloriousness that is Chuck Wendig and his blog). And if you ever need a cheerleader in your corner to help pick you up when writing isn’t going so great, you know where to find me. 🙂
Chuck Wendig’s blog is pretty amazing. His Twitter feed is full of humor and wisdom too!
