The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.

This past week on FYFA (and in my life):

I’m very late with my Sunday Post because we served on the worship team at church and then drove Danielle to camp. The rest of the week was also incredibly busy! Here’s what I was up to:

  • A broken washing machine. Ugh! This was a horrid beginning to the week. We bought our washer 14 months ago, and it was not a cheapo model. It now won’t turn on at all. We’ve been told it’s the main computer, which will cost over $500 to fix. I’m going to call the manufacturer tomorrow and see if they’ll do anything for us since it’s only two months out of warranty. We shall see. In the meantime, I had to spend hours (and $50) at the laundromat. I am not a fan.
  • College visit with Danielle. We went to visit Purdue University and did three different tours, one for admissions, one for the agriculture college, and a landscape architecture-specific tour. We really loved the school, and Danielle thinks it’s a definite possibility for her.
  • Niece’s graduation party. This one speaks for itself. We traveled up to Wisconsin and had a nice visit with family.
  • What I Read:
    • I finished reading my AMM mentee’s latest draft of her MG manuscript (for the second time, this time giving her edit notes).
    • I started reading All He Knew by Helen Frost.
    • I finished listening to The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune (loved it!) and started listening to The Beast Player by Nahoko Uehashi.
  • TV We Watched:
    • Supernatural. We started watching season 14. I can’t believe we’re nearing the end of this series.
    • America’s Next Top Model. Yep, I’m still watching this. Season 13.

Here’s what you may have missed on the blog since my last Sunday Post:

  1. I swear, machines nowadays are purposely made so that they barely survive the warranty period before they break. Also, $500?! and $50 to do your laundry?! that’s a rip-off!

I hope your daughter will find the path that most suits her! (or is it “them”? I seem to remember she came out to you as non-binary. Gosh, I’m so out of it lately LOL. Hard to keep track of all the things when your life is hectic).

Me and the hubs have watched Supernatural up to S.14, which only aired this winter here in Italy. I can’t wait to see the last season, which, again, will only air in winter for us. Grrr.

  2. I’m sorry about your washer. I’ve been trying to get a new dishwasher and stove installed that were delivered by Home Depot. Fingers crossed I’ll have working ones tomorrow. Going on the college visits sounds fun. I remember doing that with my daughter.

Thanks for the shout out about my book giveaway. Natalie @ Literary Rambles

  3. Things always break right after they are out of warranty. And if you bought the extended warranty, you would never need it or they wouldn’t cover you issue anyhow (that’s my experience). Sorry about the washer. I hope you can work something out with the manufacturer. Yeah for college visits! I had relatives who went to Perdue. Great school. I don’t really do SFF but EVERYONE loves the Klune book. Gotta be something worth looking at.

  4. UGH. Laundrymats are one of my least favorite places. I can’t’ use scented detergent or dryer sheets so I worry going there will make me sick by scenting my clothes or sheets. It’s time-consuming and I worry about cleanliness. One of my close friend went to Purdue and her son is starting there this fall. I hope next week is a better one.

  5. That’s great Danielle enjoyed the various tours at Purdue! Yay for seeing your family at your niece’s party.

Sorry to hear about the washing machine. Our dryer is starting to malfunction and it sucks for sure.

  6. I used to work at a laundrymat so they are now one of my least favorite places to go. Sorry to hear about your washing machine. Things just don’t last like they used to. The washer and dryer my parents had when I was a kid is probably still working in some guys garage. lol

  7. Fingers crossed you have some luck with the washing machine manufacturer! It’s a nightmare when that particular appliance breaks. I think I can function without pretty much anything else but not having a washer… nope. 🙁

Hope this week is a good one!

  8. Ugh, Nicole, I am so sorry, that is GROSS. I mean for $500, you could buy a whole other washer! And the laundromat is vile. I think I’d rather wash my stuff on a washboard down by a creek or some nonsense, there is nothing pleasant about the laundromat!

Glad that you at least had a nice time with family, and that Danielle liked Purdue! And I had an unhealthy ANTM obsession back in the day myself ?

(Oh- and a head’s up that your Thronebreakers pre-order link, both here and on your pre-order page, leads to Zach Smedley’s Twitter!)

  9. Oh no! This is so annoying about your washing machine, I hope you’ll find a solution soon. I’m so happy your college visits went well and that Danielle enjoyed them, yay, this is exciting! 🙂
Take care and have a fantastic week, Nicole 🙂

  10. Wow, I think you’re the second blogger mentioning washer machine issues. I have coin wash and it’s alright. they have apps now to keep track of your timing and help you pay by phone. Its very how you say…”modern.”
