Sunday Post & Giveaways Galore – 4/19/15

Posted April 19, 2015 by Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction in Sunday Post / 23 Comments

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.

Last week on FYFA (and in my life):

I decided to lower my Goodreads reading goal. When I started out the year, I knew that the 200 goal probably wouldn’t happen this year because I just can’t get as much reading done now that I’m editing regularly, but I thought I’d just keep the goal and it wouldn’t matter. Of course, every time I see that little count that tells me I’m behind, it drives me crazy (if you read my discussion this week, you know I obsess over these little things way too much, right?). So, anyway, I just decided to change it to 150. Still a very respectable number.

Yesterday, the acting and musical theatre classes that I teach at our homeschool co-op had their final performances. The kids get a great job!!

Here’s what you may have missed on the blog this past week:

Next week on FYFA:

  • Things We Know by Heart by Jessi Kirby (review)
  • Challenger Deep by Neal Shusterman (review)
  • Let’s Discuss – What I Did Instead of Changing My Ratings – Cause, yeah, I way over-analyze things and was already second-guessing myself by the time I posted last week’s post!

    • The past two years I was able to hit that 200 goal, but I knew this year was going to be different. Even at the end of the year last year, I was slowing WAY down. With my editing, I just don’t have as much time to read, but I do love editing!

  1. Congrats on the completion of your rehearsals and what I hope were successful performances!

Nothing wrong with changing that reading goal — I really hate it when Goodreads tells me I’m behind too 🙂 And 150 books is still SUPER respectable. That’s almost 3 per week! I’m hoping just to hit 100 😉

    • Yeah, I realized I was being silly for letting the goal depress me, especially when I knew going into this year that I wasn’t going to be able to read as much. Much better just to change it and let it go!

  2. I lowered mine this year from last year as well, even though I meet my goal last year, that progress bar really does stress me out sometimes and it is completely crazy because it shouldn’t, at all but it does!
Congrats on all the great reads this week!

    • Yeah, I knew that I wouldn’t be able to read as many books this year, but for some reason I left the goal anyway. But why obsess over a goal I never thought I could make? It was just silly!

    • I’m looking forward to The Shattered Court. It’s one of those books that I’ve seen around and finally decided to take the plunge and request it!

    • I was able to hit my 200 goal the past two years, but I knew that this year was going to be lighter – I just don’t have as much time to read. It was silly to stress over it, so I just changed the number so I wouldn’t have to stare at it and think about it. 🙂

  3. 150 books has been my goal for the last two years. I’ve been managing to reach – sometimes, even surpass it. You shouldn’t feel bad, because as my husband can attest, he hasn’t read a book since he left university. That was ages ago. Lol.

Good luck, and enjoy your books this week!

  4. I actually just decided to quit all my challenges, including my Goodreads one. I am actually ahead, but for some reason I continuously feel the need to beat myself. I keep trying to read more and more and it’s driving me crazy.

    • Sometimes challenges are great and sometimes they can just stress you out. You have to figure out which camp you belong to and act accordingly!

  5. Hi Nicole! 150! I’m right there with Terri at 50 only so… I think your goal is awesome! I follow your instalove love link and visited Joey. His blog is very unique! made me smiled 🙂 Thanks for sharing 🙂

    • Joey is a very unique guy! One of the things that I love about the discussion challenge is getting to know a lot of bloggers that I wouldn’t have met otherwise!

  6. Aww thanks for linking to my post! And 150!? Goodness! And that’s a decrease?! How!? Please, tell me your secrets. I need to know them all. Also, that looks like a nice group of books! I have been really curious about A Matter of Heart and The Shattered Court, but not quite convinced on either, so I am going to wait for your reviews 🙂 Hope you enjoy them all!
