Sunday Post & Giveaways Galore – 8/28/16

Posted August 28, 2016 by Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction in Sunday Post / 12 Comments

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.

Last week on FYFA (and in my life):

I’m starting to settle into the busyness of the school year. My youngest started school (he’s in the special education program, so I don’t homeschool him – he goes to our public school), which makes things a little less complicated in some ways and more in others.  🙂

My son Jaden and I went to a pre-pub dinner event for S.J. Kincaid’s The Diabolic on Monday. It was an event just for high school students and educators, but it was a pretty low turn-out (probably because school just started and people are probably crazy busy). On the positive side, that meant that we got to chat with Kincaid a bit more. My son was happy to be able to ask as many questions as he wanted. He really loved the book, so he was excited to discuss it with the author!

Here’s what you may have missed on the blog:

Next week on FYFA:

  • The Sin Eater’s Daughter and The Sleeping Prince by Melinda Salisbury – Bite-Sized Reviews
  • The Graces by Laure Eve – Review of a Witchy YA Read (this is a review from my mom!)
  • August Wrap-Up
  • August Discussion Challenge Link-Up & Giveaway
  • And I’m going to try to get a review of The Scourge up as well, since it releases on the 30th. (I haven’t written that one yet, though – Yes, I’ve actually written the other two posts – well, my mom mostly wrote one of them – and have them scheduled. Two posts written ahead of time has to be some sort of miracle for me!)
  • Let’s Discuss – something bookish!

  1. That’s unfortunate about the author event you went to, but also great that you’re able to interact with him more. Thanks again for putting my giveaway link and I hope you’ll enjoy your new purchase.

    Have a great week!

  2. The year is definitely livening up! I will say that I am happy first week all-on duty is over. Every day duty at the bus loop in the afternoon is a nice baking! That is so cool that your son got to have such a meaningful interaction with an author. Have a great week!

  3. Shattering stigmas has been great, I need to catch up on some of the posts I’ve missed. And nice post on anime/ manga! I’ve never really tried either but I’d like to try some manga, it’s so popular now and our bookstore has a ton. Sounds like a nice author event too- it’s great when kids have time to spend with an author and can ask lots of questions. I would have loved to go to events like that when I was little since books were already my thing.

    Have a great week!

  4. Eeep, so much to click on! And thanks for sharing my post in this round up! *twirls happily* And omg so amazing that you and your son got to chat with an author. THAT IS AMAZING. #goals I haven’t read The Diabolic yet, but I do want to. 😀

  5. Too bad about the low turn-out for the book event but then again it’s always fun to have more one on one time with the author. And it sounds like Jaden loved getting to ask plenty of questions. 🙂 That happened to me and my sister once at a Tracey Garvis Graves signing. For whatever reason there was a small-ish turn-out so we got to just chat a lot informally and it was great. I’ve been hearing good things about The Heart of Darkness!

I’m happy to hear you’re settling into the busyness of school! I still haven’t gotten the complete hang of it, I truly miss my son’s preschool schedule. It was so nice being able to go places together on a Tuesday or Wednesday, without dealing with weekend crowds. Maybe in another few weeks I’ll be mentally be where you’re at, fingers crossed.
